Mexican Artisans Bring New Home Decor to Atlanta Design and Wholesale Market

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 28, 2012

No Mas! Productions of Atlanta (literally “no mass productions”) and Amano Trade of Mexico team up to bring artisan crafted home accents to AmericasMart tradeshow July 13-17, 2012. No Mas! Hacienda, designer and importer of Mexican artisan products, has been an Atlanta niche home accents and furniture supplier since 1996. Their location, just one mile from AmericasMart, makes it easy to lure customers to their vast 11,000 square foot showroom and adjacent restaurant concept.

Stretch your imagination and try to remember the last time you went on that whirl wind – site seeing – museum hopping – gallery touring – high end boutique bopping – south of the border shopping spree in grand old Mexico?? Well, a visit to the expansive No Mas! Hacienda may just be a huge reminder …or a new inspiration. If you haven’t been, say no more. No Mas!, now well into their second decade of working directly with many of Mexico’s most talented artisan’s, has assembled a collection that is sure to leave you jaw agape. And to the pleasure of the gift buyers traveling to the Deep South this summer, they are bringing a small slice to market. This July you can find No Mas! at the AmericasMart Temporaries booth 7B16, they will be focused on just one of their 300 Mexican artisans. Co-Owner Steve MacNeil explains, “This show, we are going to focus on just one artist. The idea is to present the works at the Temporaries and invite our customers to our main location just one mile away so they can discover all of our collections”. The featured artisan makes colorfully textured ceramic sculptures and wall art that bring together Mexican tradition and Italian heritage.

This is the second time No Mas! has invited specific artists from Mexico to Atlanta. The first, Cesar Plascencia, painter in the photorealistic style, was featured in October 2011 on Univision. As a result, No Mas! enjoys an exclusive relationship with him in the USA. “Good news is that these artists can not mass produce anything. Products are crafted by hand, using skills passed on from generation to generation”. As a result, each item is unique and bears the unmistakable marks of the craftsman’s hand. This makes an ideal niche when addressing the needs of small stores and designers looking for something unique and made by hand.

Since 1996, No Mas! has been discovering new artists constantly and now counts more than 300 artists from all parts of Mexico including Taxco, Oaxaca, Celaya, Tlaquepaque, Tonala, Ajijic, Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo, San Miguel de Allende, and many small towns in Michoacan. Their specialty is one of a kind commissioned designs and ranges to ‘small run’ pieces ideal for catalogs, hotel interiors, and custom architectural installations. If you make the journey and somehow don’t see what you are after, please speak your mind. The possibilities are endless. “If you can sketch it we can make it”, states Walter Bilinski. And as the second Co-Owner of this incredible business he quickly illustrates with photos countless projects that he is not joking. The repertoire starts with splashy blown glass lighting, includes numerous restaurant installations and leads to a wealth of beautiful architectural creations.

An open house for buyers coming to the July Gift Show will be held nightly during the expo at the company’s main showroom at 180 Walker St SW, Atlanta, located in the Castleberry Hill Arts District. Margaritas and light Mexican fare will be served. Inquire at info@NoMasAtlanta.com for dates and times. All registered AmericasMart Buyers with a badge qualify to preview some other artisan produced products at that location.

No Mas! Hacienda & Cantina, The Best of Mexico – Restaurant & Shopping, in historic Castleberry Hill, downtown Atlanta’s Art District, just half a mile south of CNN. Award winning Mexican restaurant and adjacent huge showroom of handcrafted furnishings, accessories, gifts, & jewelry from more than 300 artisans in Mexico, with breakfast daily in ADios Cafe, and “All the Pottery in the World” in Bodega Garden.

Inspirare Fashion Design Competition Winner & Judge Favorites

Burlingame, CA (PRWEB) June 20, 2012

Social networking site, Inspirare.com, launched in June with the goal to help emerging designers get exposure and launch their design careers.

How it works: Fashion designers create an Online Portfolio on INSPIRARE where they upload fashion sketches and images of the finished designs. Inspirare users browse through portfolios and Vote on their favorite designs. The most popular designs that are approved by the Inspirare team will be produced and sold exclusively on Inspirare.com. Inspirare provides 100% funding and share generous royalty with designers.

Fashion designers are encouraged to continuously Submit Designs to Inspirare.com to their portfolios as Inspirare will produce the best items from portfolios regularly and sell them at the Inspirare Shop (scheduled to launch in September).

The site launched with a Fashion Design Competition, which closed in May. There were over 150 submissions from 23 countries for the competition.

After intense deliberation, the Inspirare team and their Inspirare Judge Panel agreed on the winning design. Fashion designer Alejandra de Coss of Puebla, Mexico won the competition for her design, Miss Marble. Inspirare.com will produce the dress and sell it exclusively on their eCommerce store. Designer Alejandra de Coss will receive 20% royalty on the sales.

Inspirares fashion director, Kate Blank, has this to say about the Miss Marble dress, You can see this dress is a nod to several trends such as peplums, cutouts and sheer paneling; but it’s exploring them in a unique way. The dress offers both an interesting print and a two tone colorway allowing us to see it’s versatility and well placed design lines. I also really love the presentation of her fashion illustration. All the images in this design submission are visually interesting and serve a purpose. I think the Miss Marble dress will be a piece that many different women will lust after as it’s a perfect party or event dress.

Inspirare Judge, Lorraine Sanders, of SF Indie Fashion, Digital Style Digest, and San Francisco Chronicle column Style Bytes favored Anca Mirons design RDVB.

Lorraine says, The multi-wear possibilities of this design immediately got my attention. While its an urbane look that would most likely appeal to a customer who already loves to take risks with fashion, theres a great deal of versatility in the cut and shape of the garments. They could fit in as easily on the streets of Stockholm as they could in New York or Tokyo. The creativity in the construction, versatility and global appeal made this look stand out.

RDVB by Anca Miron scored high enough by the judges that it may be considered for production by Inspirare.com.

Style Bust founder and Inspirare Judge, Nikki Lindgren fell in love with Texas based Crowned Birds Pipit Pencil Shirt.

Nikki says, The Pipit Pencil Skirt print is so original, yet so commercial. The cut will be flattering for many body types and the length is just right. I think Crowned Bird did a great job with this skirt. As soon as this skirt is worn on the streets it’s going to be a quick hit!

Pipit Pencil Skirt by Crowned Bird scored high enough by the judges that it may be considered for production by Inspirare.com.

Academy of Art University Style Coordinator and Inspirare Judge, Flore Morton, is a fan of Denis Predescus Pink Architecture dress.

Flore says, The dress is urban but sophisticated. The construction is very architectural, and is perfectly executed. The choice of fabrics and colors is modern, and gives a new spin on color blocking. The garment proposes a true personal vision from the designer. The photo shoot communicates a good taste level and a simplicity that balances well the dressy garment. I regret that the 2D drawing is not as strong as the dress itself.

Pink Architecture by Denis Predescu scored high enough by the judges that it may be considered for production by Inspirare.com.

Finally, Kate Blank, of Inspirare picks her favorite design, A Dream of Black & White, by Kacii.

Kate has this to say about the design, I really love the jacket within this design submission. The designer has used draping and the folds of the fabric in a really beautiful and interesting way. To me it looks like some sort of carefully folded piece of origami. It’s not only innovative and technically beautiful, but really wearable and chic.

All designs submitted to Inspirare.com can be viewed within the Discover section of the site.

Marine Corps Chapel Honored with Prestigious International Interior Design Award

Quantico, Virginia (PRWEB) June 06, 2012

For masterful execution, near perfect detailing, and a wonderful integration between the interior and exterior architecture, the Semper Fidelis Memorial Chapel in Quantico, Virginia has been honored with a BESTaward by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), Rocky Mountain Chapter. Designed by Fentress Architects, the non-denominational Chapel is a space defined by simplicity, serenity, and purity of form and materials. The project expresses the concept of a canopied field chapel, providing a seamless transition of natural materials from exterior to interior.

Design for People Completed in 2009, the 2,276 square-foot Semper Fidelis Memorial Chapel enables friends and families to honor the sacrifices of fallen heroes and loved ones, or host events and ceremonies that look to the future. Expansive glass walls, etched with text expressing time-tested Marine Corps ideals, are framed by natural fieldstone and timber columns to establish a seamless relationship with nature. The chapels location offers a commanding hilltop view of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, while chapel and museum are physically linked by a network of intricately landscaped trails through Semper Fidelis Memorial Park. The connection alludes to the Corps motto of Semper Fi, or Always Faithful.

Aspects of the Chapel are intended to speak a soldiers language, with rectangular wood and stone pews that reference ammo boxes, and a sharply defined slate roof that evokes a humble tarp. The ceilings open-truss natural timber structure features exposed diagonal wood decking illuminated by soft indirect lighting that becomes a singular design element.

Sustainability The Chapel was designed to meet standards for LEED Silver certification. The design includes a geothermal HVAC system and a mechanical system that service a large, glass-walled space. This was achieved with a hidden under-floor air distribution delivery system for energy efficiency and comfort.

Outside Influencers Two outside influences were vital to the successful development of the Chapels design. The Heritage Foundation, which was the direct client, endorsed the metaphor of a field combat zone chapel as an important aspect of not only the development of the architectural expression, but also as an opportunity for the building to tell the story of the Marine Corps. Secondly, the Timothy Day Foundation, founded by Tim Day, a former Marine Captain and successful businessman, was a major donor and heavily involved in reviews of the final development of design. These two Foundations not only allowed for a seamless design process, but also contributed to achieving the design teams goal of capturing the essence of the Marines.
