Healthcare Market Resources’ New Data Negates Assumptions on In-House Home Health Agencies

Dresher, PA (PRWEB) June 15, 2012

In the Post-Obama Care realm, post-acute providers feel pressured to integrate services and optimize partnerships and alliances. Todays home health agencies, jockeying for position in order to become a preferred provider for their services, often feel like second class citizens to in-house or captive agencies.

Healthcare Market Resources, (HMR) a leading provider of custom market data for hospices and home health agencies, announces a new set of metrics to dispel the myths associated with hospital-based home health referrals.

Theres a commonly held belief in the home health industry, particularly among freestanding organizations, that hospital-based and hospital-affiliated home health agencies(HHAs) monopolize all the in-house referrals, Richard Chesney, HMR CEO said.

Healthcare Market Resources set out to examine that myth with a new analysis by linking Medicare hospital inpatient claims to home health admissions or readmissions within a four day window.

Based on an analysis of 2009 Medicare claims data, HMR was able to determine the specific home health agencies that patients went to from each hospital. The research goes beyond the boundaries of previous analysis which was limited to examining competition within a geographical area, explained Chesney. Our analysis gives insight into the referral patterns established by specific hospitals bringing market share analysis down to the micro level. More than 67% of the hospitals did not have a dominant provider.

Whether you operate in the state of Alaska with over 86% of high market share hospitals that year or in Louisiana with just over 6% of hospitals considered to have a dominant agency in 2009, the research details how hospitals behave in a particular market.

Healthcare Market Resources offers a glance at the state data used for its analysis with a comprehensive chart at The data is an effective tool for home health agencies to discover referral opportunities to support their goals with strategies for growth in market share. Healthcare Market Resources new market research is inclusive of any hospital and can be leveraged by any home health agency.

A review of the data in a particular market can reveal that while some of the states in the highest quartile have CON restrictions on access, that regulatory-limited provider base did not automatically lead to a high percentage of single-agency dominated institutions.

Our data analysis can take into account that a hospital may attract patients beyond the service area of the captive agency or even go as far as to make note that in many metropolitan areas, patients can easily cross state lines to get care, while agencies cannot, Chesney explained. The research identifies the hospitals that have a dominant agency, with more than 70% market share, but this HHA may not be a captive organization

By effectively connecting our research with a custom report on your market, Home health agencies looking to expand their market share can now take their sales strategies to a micro level, Chesney said.

A sampling of the detail inherent in the state-specific report can be found at and additional descriptions of specific reports can be obtained by calling 215-657-7373.

The consistent takeaway from all of our data, regardless of the state you operate in, is that home health agencies that look at their market share based on assumptions or myths will be off the mark when it comes to meeting their quotas, Chesney stated.

The House Designers, Fypon

Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) September 26, 2012

A recent press release by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) states that new home construction rose 2.3 percent nationally to an adjusted annual rate of 750,000 units in August. New figures released from HUD and the U.S. Census Bureau confirm this increase was fueled entirely by gains in the single-family sector, where new construction accelerated in every region for a combined 5.5 percent gain to 535,000 units, the fastest growth in two years.

“Builders across the country have been reporting noticeable improvement in the number of serious buyers who are in the market for a new home, and today’s report shows that this is translating to some welcome gains in construction activity,” said Barry Rutenberg, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in a recent press release. “While there is still plenty of room for improvement, it’s encouraging to see this continuing trend that is spurring much-needed job growth.”

According to The House Designers, a leading provider of online stock house plans, house plan sales continued to increase by 10% each month over 2011. The top 5 states for house plan sales in 2012 are the same as in 2011 and include Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

“The pace of overall housing production has been edging gradually upward all year as consumers become more confident in their local housing markets, and the latest data are further evidence that the housing recovery is here to stay,” added NAHB Chief Economist David Crowe. “That said, the pace of this recovery continues to be constrained by various hurdles, including a tough lending environment, inaccurate appraisals and more recently, rising prices on key building materials.”

The House Designers reports that many of their house plans customers originally considered purchasing an existing home, but were often surprised to find that building a new home was more affordable. offers over 6,000 house plans in a wide variety of sizes and architectural styles, which can all be customized at a fraction of the cost of having an architect create a custom home design.

While the average size of a home is now 2,100-2,500 square feet, consumers still demand an open/flexible floor plan with all the same amenities of a much larger home plan, said Tammy Crosby, Chief Operating Officer of The House Designers. With the cost to operate and maintain at the top of consumers concerns, weve found a big increase in sales in our exclusive Green/ENERGY STAR

Absolute Automation Releases First in Series of Home Protection Info Graphics

(PRWEB) October 02, 2012

In this first info graphic from Absolute Automation Inside the Mind of a Burglar, info graphic researcher Renee Laurin relayed statistics detailing the average conceptual burglars state of mind at the time of robbery. This particular info graphic is aimed at helping consumers understand where the weak points in their security system are from an outside perspective.

Absolute Automation Inc. marketing manager Nathan McBride reports, Wed noticed a lot of customers calling in, not really sure what the best way to protect themselves and their property was, which was leading to purchases they didnt feel 100% confident in achieving the security results they had in mind. With this info graphic series, were hoping to help customers and home owners make educated purchases to achieve their home protection goals.

McBride believes that info graphics are one of the most effective methods at delivering information quickly and efficiently to consumers. The compact and visual presentation allows readers to quickly grasp the key points and leave with a better understanding of the facts. Long blog articles or other forms of communication seem not to have the same impact on readers as visual representations such as info graphics.

Laurin shows that 85% of burglars reported having been deterred from breaking into a home which had a television set or radio on. This information is quickly viewable at the top of the display for viewers to assess. She also goes on to show that 85% of burglars cased out a home before hitting it. Laurin comments, These types of statistics are not known to the average homeowner, and we felt that visually seeing some of these sobering facts would be beneficial. While home owners cannot prevent criminals from scouting out their homes or looking to burglarize, they can be better informed on what to keep an eye out for. Being better informed means homeowners can make safer security choices in their own homes.

The infographic also shows that 75% of burglars accessed the home through the window as opposed to the door, McBride says, This helps to show that while having a heavy door and dead bolt is important, realistically it will not stop most burglars. However simple window break sensors, or motion sensors inside the home can be easily programmed into an alarm system to sound both local alarms or sirens and to scare the intruder away or call out to neighbors, an alarm company etc.

Specializing in DIY security systems, security cameras and other home automation or security equipment Absolute Automation Inc. offers free technical support on all of their products and most orders are eligible for free shipping.

A Shopping Guide to Mosaic Tiles for Bathrooms is introduced by Home Improvement Super Store

(PRWEB) October 22, 2012 the Home Improvement Super Store has made their goal to deliver the right product to the consumer, with that in mind, shopping and home design tips, as well as special product selections are being introduced.

Its fairly common knowledge that one of the best ways to enhance the appearance and value of the bathroom is to add new bathroom tiling, or replace existing tile. But picking just the right bathroom tiles the style, color, material and size can be a little confusing. introduced a guide to help consumers choose their tile wisely,

1. Material

Choosing the right material for bathroom tiling is one of the very first and most important steps in a major bathroom tile remodel. What material is chosen will be a major determining factor in the final look of the remodel, the cost of the tile and installation, and what kind of maintenance will have to be done over time.

a. Ceramic

Ceramic bathroom tiles are the most common, easiest to install, and are typically the least expensive. Made of fired clay and other materials, ceramic tiles are quite durable. Because theyre typically glazed, theyre non-porous and hold up well against water, scratching, and staining, and require very little maintenance. Ceramic tiles can be dyed almost any color and finished with more or less shine, and formed to a wide variety of shapes, including textures, like those found on the Soci Sienna Bien mosaic tile. They also make an excellent surface for hand painted tiles, but dont have any of the beautiful natural variance of stone tiles.

Stone mosaic tiles, on the other hand, are shaped from natural rock, meaning that no two are quite the same. This is nice for a couple reasons it means that not only will each and every installation be unique, but also that one wont ever get an accidental pattern in tile as one can with manufactured tiles. The flip side is that if going for a very specific color, it may be hard to get a full floor worth of stone bathroom tiling to match. Smaller tiles, like the Dark Emperador, Crema Marfil, And Absolute Back Marble Tile Mosaic Sheets by Soci, for example, are designed to be close in color and pattern, but still come with a natural variance on each sheet. Stone is also one of the most expensive types of tile available, and it requires careful and consistent maintenance to keep the stone in good condition.

c. Glass

Finally, glass mosaic tiles have a bright, shiny finish and are available in a huge variety of colors and shapes. Typically (but not always) smaller than either stone or ceramic tiles, glass tiles have been traditionally used as mosaic tiles, for decorative rather than functional bathroom tiling. Smaller glass tiles are available in patterned sheets, like the beautiful blue Martini Mountain Lake Mosaic for example. Larger glass tiles are well suited to the walls and shower interior as they repel water and are very easy to clean.

d. Metal

Sleek, solid and unrelentingly stylish, metal tiles have changed the face of mosaics by delivering the seductive sheen of metal for interior surfaces. Metal mosaic tile can be used for almost any commercial and residential interior application, including floor accents, walls, ceilings, etc. Metal tiles must be regularly cleaned and maintained to extend their life and beauty. Most dirt and stains can be cleaned with a mild detergent and soft cloth or sponge. Fingerprints, streaks and watermarks can be removed with olive oil.

2. Texture

Texture is an important element when deciding on the new bathroom tiling primarily for safety reasons. Smooth tile (no matter what the material) on the floor will increase the likelihood of a fall accident. Textured tile, like Chiseled Ivory Travertine Tile from Soci for example, is more likely to prevent slipping. Counter and wall tiles should also be sealed and non-porous, to prevent water damage or the growth of mold or mildew.

3. Color

This one is fairly simple, and probably best left to personal taste, but as a rough guideline, white, yellow, and peach tones will help brighten and warm the bathroom, enhancing the natural light and creating an inviting space, whereas blues and greens will cool it, making it feel light and airy. Darker, more dramatic colors like black, red, or gem tones, as well as gray scale bathroom tiling will create a bold, modern look, while an all white bathroom will work well with a frequently changing decor. If opting for the last, mixing shapes, sizes, and styles will keep the look interesting, like combining this Crystal Ice Blocco Tile with a matching, smaller square Crystal Ice Piazza by Martini Mosaic.

4. Style

In a period style home, choosing period inspired bathroom tiling can be important to maintaining the overall value of your home. If home is traditional in other ways, matching a historical tile can be incredibly desirable to buyers.

For a more modern design, on the other hand, one almost definitely want to opt for stone tile floors and glass bathroom tiling throughout the rest of the bathroom. The reflective glass surface of the tile (plus the minimalist but dramatic repeating patterns available from companies like Martini Mosaic) are the heart and soul of modern design, and will definitely help elevate the decor.

5. Size

Size is an incredibly important choice as well. Smaller bathrooms are typically associated with smaller tiles, but using larger ones on the floor or in the shower can actually make the space seem larger. Using very tiny tiles in a wide space, on the other hand, can make a larger space seem crowded and busy. A lot of large tiles that are starting to look a little bland can be balanced out by a line of accent tiles, like simple but elegant Fleur De Lis trim by Soci for example, to visually divide the space. is more than just a Home Improvement Superstore. Theyre constantly seeking to provide homeowners and designers with the right products at competitive prices. With a wide selection of products, expert design tips, and comprehensive shopping guides, Homethangs is a company thats there at all stages of the design process, from idea to execution. Richmond, VA (PRWEB) August 28, 2012

Wayne came up with an extensive redesign and technological upgrade, using acoustical products from Acoustical Solutions, Inc.

The acoustical treatment, and “key feature” of the room according to Finite Solutions, is the SoundSuede material from Acoustical Solutions.
