NewSchool of Architecture and Design Announces New Global Design Education Opportunities Through Collaborations With Domus Academy in Italy and Media Design School in New Zealand

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) November 14, 2012

NewSchool of Architecture and Design(NSAD) is pleased to announce new global design education offerings being developed in collaboration with two internationally recognized leaders in design: Domus Academy in Italy and Media Design School(MDS) in New Zealand. NSAD, Domus and MDS are all members of the Laureate International Universities network. The new offerings, starting in the 20132014 academic year, include an interior design bachelors degree program with an emphasis on global design, offered through the newly created Domus Academy School of Design at NSAD, and an opportunity for students enrolled in NSADs digital media arts program to obtain a certificate of study from MDS.

The new global design offerings build on NSADs strong tradition in architecture programming and complement the schools newer programs in digital media arts and construction management. They are part of an ongoing effort by NSAD to enhance its current offerings through global study opportunities in design-related fields such as interior design, graphic design and product design.

This is an opportunity for San Diego to become a center of global design education and innovation in design-related fields through our membership in the Laureate International Universities network and collaborations with members of the local design community, said NSAD President Steve Altman. We are excited about the prospect of enhancing our current program offerings by providing preparation in fields that are closely aligned with strong job-market demand. We are also committed to meeting the needs of an increasingly diverse and global society, whether that means working for companies in San Diego or around the world.

To reinforce its commitment to existing and new programs, NSAD is planning to establish three schools within its academic structure: The School of Architecture, which will teach the core curricula of architecture and construction management; The School of Digital Arts, the first program of which is a revitalized Bachelor of Digital Media Arts with certificate options through MDS; and Domus Academy School of Design at NSAD, which will house the additional global design education programs NSAD plans to develop, starting with the interior design program.

The Domus Academy School of Design at NSAD brings the quality and innovation of Italian design education leader Domus Academy in Milan, Italy, to the United States. Domus Academy in Italy, one of the top-ranked design schools in the world, has been recognized for its emphasis on advanced design methodologies capable of anticipating needs and trends in a continuously evolving society.

The NSAD bachelors degree program in interior design, being offered through the Domus Academy School of Design at NSAD, will prepare students to work in a global design environment. To mark the start of this collaboration, a visiting professor from Domus Academy in Italy, Paolo Giachi, is currently teaching a topics studio at NSAD on retail design with an emphasis on interiors. Giachi is a distinguished designer with more than 16 years of experience in designing luxury retail stores for fashion brands such as Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Jimmy Choo in locations around the world.

In other global design offerings, a collaboration with Media Design School in New Zealand is focused on revitalizing the NSAD digital media arts program. The first phase of this effort provides students in NSADs program the chance to obtain certificates through MDS in the specialties of either graphic design or interactive design (Web and mobile design). These offerings are scheduled to start in 2013-2014, along with opportunities for NSAD students to study at MDS. Additional new program possibilities are being explored in collaboration with MDS with the goal of providing students with in-demand skills in digital-related specialties such as game art, game programming and animation.

Domus Academy and MDS have received global recognition for their design and digital arts programming. In 1994, Domus Academy received the prestigious Compasso dOro award for the quality of its academic and research approaches, and in 2009, the academy was nominated for the third time by Businessweek magazine as one of the best design schools in the world. MDS is New Zealands most-honored higher-education institute for its digital and creative technology qualifications and recognized around the world for its high-quality digital arts programs, particularly in the areas of animation, interactive media, game development and design.

NSADs collaborations with Domus Academy and MDS are facilitated through the educational access and resources offered by the LIU network which includes more than 60 accredited campus-based and online institutions of higher education serving more than 740,000 students around the world.

Sarasota County Commission Recognizes Sweet-Sparkman Architects and Ringling College Students for ‘ORIGINS’ Exhibit at 2012 Architecture Biennale in Venice, Italy

Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) September 25, 2012

Sarasota County Commission today recognized Sweet-Sparkman architects and Ringling College of Art and Design students for the ‘ORIGINS’ exhibit at 2012 Architecture Biennale in Venice, Italy.

The pure quartz sands of Siesta Key Beach were on display last month at the 13th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, Italy, in an exhibit created by local architects Jerry Sparkman and Todd M. Sweet along with students, staff and alumni from the Ringling College of Art and Design. Sparkman and the team from Ringling were honored today with a certificate of recognition by the Sarasota County Commission at the start of the Sept. 25 meeting.

The conceptual exhibit, called Origins, features a sand waterfall that flows from the ceiling through a hand-cast glass vitrine in front of a 10 x 10 glass wall. The architects from the firm of Sweet Sparkman were invited to participate in the exhibition by Rene Reitmeyer, a Dutch artist and the curator for the exhibition. Reitmeyer was intrigued by Sparkmans Casey Key beach house design, which prompted him to offer the architect an invitation to present a conceptual proposal to the exhibitions selection committee in January.

Ringling College student team members honored today include Business of Art & Design 2012 graduate Mari Garman and 2012-2013 Trustee Scholar Agneta Ramoskaite; Fine Arts seniors Diana Lueken and Devon Keene; 2012-2013 Trustee Scholar for Student Life and Interior Design senior Dehne Sibbernsen; Motion Design sophomore Jason Beale and Photography & Digital Imaging sophomore Jackson Petty.

Siesta Keys sand is made of 99.9% pure quartz. It is one of the reasons Siesta Key Beach was named the 2011 Best Beach in America by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, also known as Dr. Beach.

The exhibit received support from the Sarasota County Commission, Sarasota County Parks and Recreation, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation and Visit Sarasota County.

The ORIGINS exhibition is open to the public at the BIENNALE ARCHITETTURA 2012 until November 25, 2012 at the Palazzo Bembo, located at 4793 Riva del Carbon, 30124 Venice, Italy. More than 40,000 visitors are expected to tour the ORIGINS exhibit during its run.

Announcement: The Rising Architecture Billings Index (ABI) Indicates Increased Construction to Come in the Next Year

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 25, 2012

The latest data from the U.S. Architecture Billings Index (ABI) has been released and it points to good news for construction businesses and real estate developers. In August, this leading construction indicator rose by 1.5 points, indicating a possible recovery in the U.S. construction sector. This report is good news for every business tied to the construction industry, from the architects that plan the projects, to builders who oversee the construction, to the carpet, door and window, flooring and other industries who provide materials for construction.

The ABI now stands at 50.2, which is the best level over the past 5 months. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has stated that any reading over 50 indicates good demand for architect services. While this is certainly good news for the countrys architects, it is also good news for the construction industry, since high ABI readings often precede strong growth in the construction sector over the following 12 months.

Concerns have been raised regarding the ability of the architecture industry to meet the new demand being indicated. Many architects became unemployed during the downturn, and some wonder if those remaining in the industry will be able to meet increasing demand from new construction projects. Fortunately, a separate study found that the demands for new projects are being met. This means growth will continue and strengthen without being derailed by constraints in the design phase of construction.

Looking more closely at industry sectors, multi-family residential buildings are a clear leader, followed by commercial and institutional building projects. The data is an encouraging indicator for economic growth.

Those best positioned to take advantage in this upswing in construction will be the builders and developers who have access to the necessary capital to fund their projects. Because banks are still unwilling to loan due to issues in the capital markets, more developers and builders are turning to lending experts who can get find capital sources. Sunovis Financial is just such a lending organization. The company has an experienced team of banking and real estate professionals.

About Sunovis Financial

Sunovis Financial’s motto is to rebuild the U.S. economy, one business and one loan at a time. The team of professionals find access to capital for borrowers, and the company specializes in SBA loans as well.

Available on DVD-ROM or as a direct download from the InfiniteSkills website, the 6.5 hour tutorial uses a self-directed learning model to allow viewers to learn entirely at their own pace.

Autodesk Revit Architecture 2013 Tutorial Video – Training Course for Beginners

Beginning with a basic introduction to BIM concepts and the Revit family of software, the Revit Architecture 2013 training first goes through the program’s user interface, examining the ribbon, project browser and key menus used in professional building design. Next, author Jay Polding moves into project setup, helping viewers work with location settings and CAD imports to create a toposurface and raw outline of the structure to be built, a dinosaur-themed museum that serves as a common model throughout the course.

The Revit training moves piece by piece through viable building design, showing how to create walls, floors, stairs, roofs, ceilings and more. As each component is covered, the Revit tutorials examine the most common professional approaches as well as variations the viewer is likely to encounter in real world projects.

Casa Forma Short Listed for the International Design and Architecture Awards for 2012

(PRWEB) August 23, 2012

Casa Forma the London based interior and architectural design firm has been short listed for the International Design and Architecture Awards for 2012 to be held at the Dorchester Hotel, London, on Friday 28th September 2012.

The International Design and Architecture Awards are acclaimed in the interior design industry because firms are short listed by industry professionals then it is up to potential clients to decide on the winner. This is a great measure of both creativity and commercial appeal of our projects. says Faiza Seth (CEO of Casa Forma).

The International Design (ID&A) & Architecture Awards, are hosted by design et al, a leading UK interior design magazine. At design et al, their aim is to commend design, recognize talent, create opportunities and quite simply to offer inspiration. The ID&A Awards offer a number of different categories covering residential architecture, interior design and product design and to meet the demand of their clients, more categories have, again, been added to the schedule.

What makes these awards different to other design awards?

Like all design et al awards, The International Design & Architecture Awards are not judged by a panel. Short listed entries are presented online, and voting is open to industry professionals along with their readers, clients and the general public to be the judge of each and every award. The judges are also potential future clients.

Focusing on the residential sector, these awards celebrate the best in design, looking for outstanding architecture, interior design and product designs.

The ID&A Awards offers a number of award categories and Casa Forma has been short listed in five of these categories :

Category 1 – Residential
