SoftLayer Replaces Budgeting Software with Alight Planning, Achieves Significant ROI

El Dorado Hills, CA (PRWEB) June 27, 2012

Alight Planning, developers of the first solution to make driver-based planning easy, today announced SoftLayer has achieved significant benefits by replacing their legacy budgeting and planning software with the Alight Planning solution. The full story was featured in a webinar earlier this month with the Institute of Management Accountants entitled: Case Study: Measuring the ROI of Planning Software.

Rand Heer, Alight Planning CEO, comments on the webinar, We were pleased to have over 800 finance professionals attend the IMA webinar earlier this month. The SoftLayer success story is generating a lot of buzz in the industry and third-party analyst firms are expressing interest in developing an in-depth case study that would verify the ROI which is estimated at 50x.

SoftLayer is the global cloud infrastructure platform that operates 13 data centers in the US. Given the rapid growth in this sector, the annual budgeting process was insufficient; SoftLayer took a dynamic, continuous approach to planning throughout the year. SoftLayer first replaced spreadsheets with Centages Budget Maestro software package. In 2009, the finance team began a search to replace Centage with a solution that would enable a more intuitive and integrated driver-based planning model and rapid scenario analysis in order to support the rapid growth.

While Centage was a step up compared to planning in spreadsheets, we could not create an integrated driver-based model, said Gary Kinman, Vice President of Finance and Analytics at SoftLayer, Since sales units were stored in an isolated module, sales units could not be used to drive capital expenses or operations headcount. Of course, we could drive revenue in Centage with sales units, but with Alight Planning, our driver-based model is now fully integrated. Analysis to adjust volume or pricing of a certain product that required 30 minutes in Centage was taking 3 minutes in Alight Planning. Our ability to quickly perform analysis on-the-fly with Alight Planning is leading to better decisions. We now have a better feel for the direction to take as a company.

The ROI Calculator developed earlier this year is generating some interesting conclusions about the state of budgeting and planning software, said Ben Lamorte of Alight Planning. Gary and I reflected on life before and after Alight Planning leading to a documented efficiency savings of about $ 100,000 over the last three years associated with moving to Alight Planning. The $ 100,000 is a result of doing the same things SoftLayer did with Centage, but doing them faster with integrated driver-based panning we call these type 1 benefits. Benefits of over $ 3M were associated with introducing new planning processes that were not even attempted prior to Alight Planning. These type 2 benefits included optimizing cash management and analyzing profitability by location. To our knowledge, SoftLayers implementation of Alight Planning represents the largest ROI documented in the history of mid-market planning software.

United Nations Foundation Commits to Making the Goals of the London Summit on Family Planning a Reality

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) July 11, 2012

As partners from around the world join together in London to launch an ambitious effort to enable 120 million more women in developing countries access to voluntary, lifesaving family planning, information, and services by 2020, the United Nations Foundation reaffirms its commitment in support of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moons innovative Every Woman Every Child movement. This effort builds upon the Foundations long history of investment and work on adolescent girls and womens health, including the Universal Access Project, to achieve universal access to reproductive health care Millennium Development Goal 5 which leads to healthier women, stronger families, and more stable, prosperous communities.

Reproductive health issues cut across virtually all of our campaigns and initiatives, said Timothy E. Wirth, President of the UN Foundation. The London Summit — a global call to accelerate support for women and girls — builds upon the leadership and work of the United Nations Population Fund and the long-term support of the U.S. government to achieve universal access to reproductive health care and voluntary family planning. We call on all governments to prioritize this critical work moving forward.

We know that more than 220 million women around the world want, but do not have, access to modern contraception. By making a significant dent in this unmet need were not only saving the lives of women and children, but were also putting families on a path to a healthier, more sustainable and prosperous future. Voluntary family planning is one of the smartest investments that we can make said Timothy E. Wirth.

To help make the goals of the London Summit on Family Planning a reality, the UN Foundation is proud to fulfill and accelerate its $ 400 million commitment made together with partners in 2010 in support of Every Woman Every Child to improve womens and childrens health. This includes:

strategicplanningMD Announces New Name, Corporate Strategy, and Release of Version 4.0 Strategic Planning Software

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 18, 2012

strategicplanningMD announced today a new direction for the two-year-old firm, changing its name to AchieveIt to better describe the companys mission: to help organizations execute smarter, faster, and better. The name change is timed with the release of its version 4.0 cloud-based strategic planning software suite, which includes three robust applications and a comprehensive resource library.

The new name is a recognition of the size, strength, and diversity of our client base and the fundamental reason our clients and prospects turn to us for help in the first place, said Scott Regan, founder and chief execution officer. Our clients are looking to turn organizational vision and goals into real, meaningful, and tangible results. They want to improve strategy formulation and execution management, create a culture of accountability, and, ultimately, achieve their strategic and operational objectives Whatever It is, our singular purpose is to help our clients AchieveIt.

As part of the rebranding initiative, the company has adopted a new tagline that corresponds with its mission statement: Execute Smarter. Faster. Better.

The genesis of strategicplanningMD was a healthcare strategic planning consulting practice that identified the need to automate basic planning functions, tools, and methods using Internet-based applications. Formed in March 2010, the company introduced its first application in July of that year. By June 2012, the company was serving nearly 100 clients in six industries: healthcare, higher education, financial services, professional services, government, and engineering.

Seeing the opportunity to serve a market much broader than healthcare, the company felt a name change was in order, as strategicplanningMDs name connoted a healthcare planning function. In order to reposition itself for growth beyond healthcare and with a focus not only on planning, but also on execution the name AchieveIt was selected.

We are attracting attention from companies with 40,000 employees and from companies with less than 40 employees, said John Tolmie, president and chief growth officer. Our smallest client is a financial services company with 14 employees, and they have the same strategy development and execution management challenges as our largest client, Baylor Health Care system, which has nearly 20,000 employees. The fact is, in todays competitive climate, no company can afford to misfire, and our technology provides a powerful arsenal for achieving corporate objectives.

In conjunction with the name change, AchieveIt announced the release of Version 4.0, which includes the following applications, all rebranded under the new corporate direction:

ExecuteIt: The companys flagship strategy development and execution management application, with additional tools to accelerate accountability and execution, including plan scoring, automatic dashboard trend lines, and integration into the firms other cloud-based applications.
AnalyzeIt: Map data at an address level and conduct on-the-fly analysis with point-and-click technology.
ImproveIt: Now, every aspect of a companys quality and performance improvement program can be managed in the cloud, with complete visibility and transparency.
ShareIt: Unites users with online discussion boards, plus provides file sharing within companies and access to strategy development and execution management resources, as well as best-practice strategy bundles that can be directly imported into plans.
