In The Event Produces 2012 Zero Fatalities Safety Summit

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) October 29, 2012

Salt Lake City based event design firm, In The Event, teamed up with the organizations involved in Utahs Zero Fatalities Safety Summit to develop a fresh approach to the conference, accommodating for the influx of attendees with a new location, new look and new perspective. The Zero Fatalities Safety Summit was held at South Towne Exposition Center from October 25 to 26, with a pre-conference held on the 24th. Zero Fatalities is the result of combined efforts from various agencies, state departments and organizations to save lives on Utahs roads. The public education program developed for the Utah Department of Transportation focuses on the top behaviors killing people in car accidents. The campaign seeks to educate in order to prevent these behaviors and unite Utah drives in their common goal of diminishing traffic fatalities.

The Zero Fatalities Safety Summit was, of course, something we were eager to be involved in. We felt we could design a new look and feel for the summit using our unique inventory to help further propel the goals of the conference, says Robert LaSpina, In The Event Co-Founder and Vice President. In The Event utilized their video towers to showcase the events sponsors and display Zero Fatalities videos, which assisted in bringing the stories of the campaign to life, continues LaSpina. In The Event also utilized chalk walls and a hot topic lounge, complete with their black and white leather furniture and wireless LED coffee and side tables, to encourage engagement and conversation at the summit. The tops of the coffee tables and side tables had custom graphics with word bubbles filled with driving safety issues. The text included words such as seat belts and drowsy driving, in order to incite attendees to deliberate on these issues inherent to the Zero Fatalities campaign. Additionally, In The Events chalk walls were used the encourage further discussion of the Zero Fatalities issues. Each chalk wall had a graphic cling at the top with one of the conference sponsors logos and a question related to that specific organization. Event registration also had custom graphics to match the Zero Fatalities look.

In The Event worked closely with Penna Powers Brian Haynes ad agency to ensure cohesion in the event design and promotion process. PPBH is the ad agency responsible for marketing and promotion of the Zero Fatalities program. The agency develops strategic partnerships and TV and radio spots impressing upon the importance of safe driving. The program is built upon the idea that the only number of traffic fatalities we can all live with is zero. The campaign has been extremely effective, with decreases seen in drowsy driving fatalities, aggressive driving fatalities, lack of seat belt usage and more. The Zero Fatalities Safety Summit brings together all of the organizations supporting the program to further educate and increase awareness about it.

In The Event is a full service event design company providing the ultimate in products and services to clients throughout the U.S. Their ability to transform your desires from concept to reality makes for an exciting and cohesive planning process. United Nations Foundation Commits to Making the Goals of the London Summit on Family Planning a Reality

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) July 11, 2012

As partners from around the world join together in London to launch an ambitious effort to enable 120 million more women in developing countries access to voluntary, lifesaving family planning, information, and services by 2020, the United Nations Foundation reaffirms its commitment in support of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moons innovative Every Woman Every Child movement. This effort builds upon the Foundations long history of investment and work on adolescent girls and womens health, including the Universal Access Project, to achieve universal access to reproductive health care Millennium Development Goal 5 which leads to healthier women, stronger families, and more stable, prosperous communities.

Reproductive health issues cut across virtually all of our campaigns and initiatives, said Timothy E. Wirth, President of the UN Foundation. The London Summit — a global call to accelerate support for women and girls — builds upon the leadership and work of the United Nations Population Fund and the long-term support of the U.S. government to achieve universal access to reproductive health care and voluntary family planning. We call on all governments to prioritize this critical work moving forward.

We know that more than 220 million women around the world want, but do not have, access to modern contraception. By making a significant dent in this unmet need were not only saving the lives of women and children, but were also putting families on a path to a healthier, more sustainable and prosperous future. Voluntary family planning is one of the smartest investments that we can make said Timothy E. Wirth.

To help make the goals of the London Summit on Family Planning a reality, the UN Foundation is proud to fulfill and accelerate its $ 400 million commitment made together with partners in 2010 in support of Every Woman Every Child to improve womens and childrens health. This includes:

Appalachian Energy Summit Helping North Carolina College Campuses Slash a $226 Million Energy Bill

Boone, North Carolina (PRWEB) July 09, 2012

July 9, 2012Today, college leaders from North Carolina meet for the first time, making a signatory commitment to work toward carbon neutrality by 2050 and slash their $ 226 million energy bill.

The three-day Appalachian Energy Summit, hosted by Appalachian State University in partnership with Rocky Mountain Institute, convenes representatives from all 17 campuses in the University of North Carolina system, including the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, plus five private colleges: Catawba College, Davidson College, Duke University, Warren Wilson College, and Wake Forest University.

The inaugural event is designed to aid in the creation of actionable energy plans that benefit students, the environment, and the local economy.

The University of North Carolina is exploring opportunities to educate its 221,000 students at their 17 campuses on the principles and practices of sustainability. According to the North Carolina State Energy Office, The University of North Carolina system spends $ 226 million per year on energy, approximately $ 1,000 per student per year. At current levels, a 25-year reduction in energy usage would yield a 20-year savings in excess of $ 1 billion.

Todays college-bound students want to know about campus sustainability plans, said RMI Senior Consultant Michael Kinsley, author of RMIs Accelerating Campus Climate Initiatives. The answer to which could be a deciding factor for a growing number of applicants.

As college campuses across the country are raising tuition in a tough economy, the summit has implications beyond North Carolina. With 677 college and university signatories to the Presidents Climate Commitment, more campuses are looking to lower operating costs. RMIs recently published Reinventing Fire provides a long-term vision and strategies to dramatically cut energy use by retrofitting buildings, addressing the fuel in fleets, and exploring on-site renewable generation that can be readily adaptable to a complex campus ecosystem.

If college campuses can champion the efficient use and renewable supply of energy, Kinsley said, they stand to not only gain a competitive edge but can serve as a living lab for cities and regions trying to implement similar strategies at a larger scale.

The summit launches a multi-year commitment in which participating campuses will collaborate to set goals, share best practices, and educate leadership on integrated design and the latest technologies. Ultimately, the UNC campuses are looking to cut the universitys average annual energy costs by 50 percent while promoting environmental leadership through their academic programs.

Hosting this University of North Carolina system-wide transformational initiative at Appalachian State University is a true honor, said Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock. The collaborative nature of the Summit reinforces the commitment Appalachian and our sister institutions have to sustainable practices and programs. In light of our campus’ commitment to sustainability, including receiving the prestigious U. S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011 People’s Choice Award and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Educations STARS Gold rating for excellence in sustainable practices in our curriculum, operations, and administration, I am proud for Appalachian to welcome RMI CEO and Physicist Amory Lovins and his colleagues as well as all of the other distinguished speakers.

G20 summit yields useful commitments to euro reforms, better framing of global choices: CIGI experts

Los Cabos, Mexico (PRWEB) June 21, 2012

The Los Cabos G20 summit resulted in an important commitment by Europe to reform its troubled banking system. At the same time, the summit marked a useful movement away from a false debate about austerity versus growth, and toward a more useful global political conversation about balancing of prudence versus generosity.

These are the findings of G20 experts from The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) who attended the Los Cabos summit June 18-19, 2012. They present their views in new post-summit commentaries posted at CIGI’s website, http://www.cigionline.org.

James Haley, Director of the Global Economy program at CIGI, notes that “the G20 Los Cabos Leaders Declaration and Los Cabos Growth and Jobs Action Plan have some very encouraging elements for those concerned about the prospects for the global economy.”

Most important, Haley writes, is the commitment by the euro area members to close the “yawning gap” between their capital market integration and the institutional arrangements required to support that integration. Haley also lauds commitments by the US to avoid sharp fiscal cuts that could hamper growth, and by China to let the markets play a larger role in its currency exchange rate.

Andrew F. Cooper, a CIGI Distinguished Fellow, states that “the image of the Los Cabos G20 being dominated by the debate over growth versus austerity is misleading in many ways.”

Rather, Cooper writes, the real debate is over the calls for fiscal prudence as seen in the positions of Germany and Canada, regarding financial support to European countries with a high standard of living and the need for continued generosity to developing and deserving poor countries; and the Los Cabos summit may have helped shift this global political conversation.

Other CIGI experts will also weigh in with analyses of the Los Cabos summit over the next few days. Watch CIGI’s website for these new commentaries.

Saugatuck Technology Announces the 2nd Annual Cloud Business Summit

Westport, CT (PRWEB) June 12, 2012

Saugatuck Technology, the leading subscription research and business strategy consulting firm focused on the Cloud, today announced the date of its second annual Cloud Business Summit, to be held on November 14, 2012 at the Westin Times Square in New York City.

As a follow-up to last years highly successful Summit, this years conference will again bring together CIOs, CTOs and senior business leaders from mid-to-large enterprises from across a range of industries to explore how they can and are realizing value from the Business Cloud.

A key theme at this years event will be the emergence of the new Master Architecture what Saugatuck is calling “CMSA” (as in Cloud, Mobile, Social and Analytics). Unlike Master Architectures of the past, where a single technology has dominated (e.g., mainframes, PCs, internet), today’s new Master Architecture leverages multiple technologies and platforms, and loosely-coupled approaches, to unlock previously untapped business value. In this environment, innovation is clearly on the rise, as companies accelerate investments in support of a evolved vision for business computing what Saugatuck is calling the Boundary-free Enterprise.

Saugatuck is pleased to announce that both SAP and IBM have returned as Platinum sponsors in 2012. New event partners this year include Dimension Data and Progress Software as Gold sponsors, OrangeScape as a Silver sponsor, and Information Management and Sand Hill Group as Media sponsors. Saugatuck has assembled a rich mix of senior business and information technology executives who will participate as speakers in the event, including Rich Roseman, VP and CIO at News Corp., Michael Lemberger, VP at American Express, Gary Lynch, Managing Director at Marsh, and Andrew Stokes, Chief Scientist at Deutsche Bank AG, among others.

We are delighted to announce our second annual Cloud Business Summit, shared Saugatuck Technology founder and CEO Bill McNee. Similar to last year, the Summit again brings together approximately 150 senior business and IT leaders in an intimate, senior executive-level forum to discuss the issues of the day. However, the focus this year will not only be on the growing influence of the Cloud, but related technologies as well including Mobile, Social, Advanced Analytics and Integration and how they are collectively helping to reshape the business computing landscape, added McNee. Our goal is to provide a powerful networking environment for the conference delegates to learn firsthand from their peers and Saugatuck about how large enterprises are applying Cloud and related technologies, platforms and solutions to their advantage, and building winning business strategies.

Senior IT Executives and Business Strategists, who wish to request an invitation, or to learn more about the program, should visit the Cloud Business Summit website at http://www.cloudbusinesssummit.com, or call +1.203.454.3900.
