Sony Announced the DSC-RX100 Professional Compact Camera

B&H Photo Video is excited to share the release of the new Sony DSC-RX100 Professional Compact Camera, which features a large 1″ sensor, and an ultra-bright Carl Zeiss f/1.8 lens. It also features a handy control ring for easy access to aperture settings, for total creative freedom.

Sonys newly-announced DSC-RX100 is a unique compact camera in design and performance. While it takes on the demeanor of a small, simple-to-use camera, it also provides a great deal of appeal for even the professional photographer. The Sony DSC-RX100 camera control range includes modes that will provide auto exposure and scene-recognition tactics, or it can be set to full-manual mode.

The Sony DSC-RX100 design is also reminiscent of an interchangeable-lens camera, and features a rotating control ring at the front that allows one to control many of the cameras settings, including focus and aperture settings. Beneath the sleek design is an impressive 1.0-inch 20.2MP sensor for outstanding image quality, and an incredibly fast Zeiss f/1.8 lens for low-light shooting and greater control over selective-focus applications. A premium multi-layered T* coating also dramatically reduces ghost and flare caused by light reflection.

Capture the decisive moment with up to 10fps

Capture full 20.2 megapixel resolution images at up to 10 frames per second, helping to ensure that the decisive moment is captured, such as the soccer ball flying into the goal. In addition, a mechanical shutter helps reduce distortion when continuously shooting moving subjects.

High speed Auto Focus

To improve focusing speed and sensitivity, the Exmor CMOS sensor uses its rapid throughput to deliver high-quality image signals to the cameras BIONZ processor, which provides intelligent response data to a new high-speed actuator motor in the lens. The result is fast, DSLR-like focusing speeds even in low light.
