Landscape Forms Introduces UrbanEdge Designed by GGN

Kalamazoo, MI (PRWEB) July 09, 2012

Landscape Forms, the industry leader in integrated collections of high-design site furniture and advanced LED lighting, announces the introduction of UrbanEdge, a collection of landscape framing and furniture elements for urban spaces. The collection is designed by Seattle-based Gustafson Guthrie Nichol (GGN), the recipients of the prestigious 2011 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award in Landscape Architecture. UrbanEdge pairs GGNs experience in designing urban spaces with Landscape Forms expertise in developing and manufacturing beautiful site furnishings that address issues in urban environments; built to perform and endure under conditions of heavy urban use.

UrbanEdge responds to the demand for more outdoor public areas with an interest in less formal, more welcoming spaces, and effective use of scarce available urban space. UrbanEdge is a tool for designers to create unique yet functional sites; defining edges and turning dead corners into outward oriented settings that interface with the urban fabric. It helps designers construct places for orienting and organizing, resting and reflecting, meeting and greeting, people watching and taking in a view. It can be used to create curbside transit stops and eddies along sidewalks where people step in and out of the flow; to develop niches and focused social settings within larger spaces; and to enrich experience in outdoor spaces with dynamic and kinetic furniture elements that suit the way we interact today.

GGN designers took inspiration from the social interactions in many types of spaces lunch rooms, living rooms, transit stops, and play grounds and extracted their relaxed, informal spirit to design furniture elements that enliven them. UrbanEdge family consists of MAX Trellis; JESSIE Railing; GUS Planter; OLLIE Small Seat; SOPHIE Large Seat; BERNIE Bar Height Seat; and STELLA Table. Frames include the trellis, railing system and planter. Core elements are the seating and table pieces that live within defined spaces and activate the core, enhancing the experience of place.

UrbanEdge family members are multifaceted and work together in multiple combinations. UrbanEdge was created by designers for designers. Its focus is on the functionality of spaces and facilitates a wide range of activities. The suite of furnishings can be combined in inventive ways to energize outdoor settings and provide varied opportunities for people to interact within the same space over time. UrbanEdge is a dynamic resource for maximizing under-leveraged urban space, designing vibrant, integrated urban settings and creating a sense of place.

Appreciation for Things That are Handmade

We developed lullubee because there has never been a better time for people who remember and appreciate the quality of handmade objects, says Dekel. We find that people who enjoy crafts want something unique and not something that is mass-produced that they can share with their children, but may not know how to start. Lullubee was created to help people be creative and be happy with the outcome.

Many craft projects in lullubees Gold Collection and the Craft of the Month Club are classic crafts inspired by Dekel and Burchs childhood memories that have been popular for generations.

We enjoy inspiring people and created lullubee to unleash the crafter in you. We encourage our fans to follow the directions we provide with all our craft kits lightly and to play with their own ideas so they end up with something uniquely theirs, says Burch. We want our customers to know that there are no bad ideas and to remember that handmade crafts are original and unique every time they make something. Even for us at lullubee, we can make 50 celebration crowns and all 50 can look different.

HomeThangs.com Introduces a Selection of Best Quality, Least Expensive Stainless Steel Kitchen Sinks

(PRWEB) July 06, 2012

HomeThangs.com has made their goal to deliver the right product to the consumer, with that in mind, shopping and home design tips, as well as special product selections are being introduced.

Good stainless steel sinks will last for years, and knowing what to look for, will help get an incredible, high quality product for a fraction of the price.

A few tips to keep in mind when shopping for stainless steel kitchen sink:

1 . The very most important thing to remember when shopping stainless steel sinks is gauge. The gauge of a piece of steel is how many times its been run through a press and thinned. For example 1 gauge steel was rolled once, and 100 gauge steel was pressed thinner and thinner a hundred times. Kitchen sinks usually come in between 16 (the thickest) and 22 or 24 (the thinnest). For the very absolute best quality, a 16 gauge sink would be the best choice, such as this Double Basin Sink from Artisan, but it is also going to cost more.

2. If one is on a budget, anywhere from 18-20 gauge is just fine, and can dramatically lower the price of the sink in many cases from somewhere in the $ 600+ range down to $ 100-200 or so. Now, even so, the lower the gauge on the sink the better, and anything over 20 is not recommended altogether, but to get a good quality stainless steel sink with a more reasonable price tag, dropping from 16 to 18 or even 20 gauge is a great way to cut costs without sacrificing much quality. For example, something like this 20 Gauge Sink from AmeriSink will serve just fine outside an intensive commercial kitchen.

Cons of higher gauge sinks:

DNS Made Easy Introduces ANAME Records

Reston, VA (PRWEB) June 28, 2012

DNS Made Easy, the industry’s leading IP Anycast DNS provider, announced the release of ANAME records. ANAME records are exclusive to DNS Made Easy and are useful as an alternative to CNAME records. This industry leading technology is another step that shows why more clients make DNS Made Easy their preferred choice to over-priced and underperforming alternatives in the enterprise IP Anycast market.

CNAME records, or alias records, are used by DNS administrators to easily map names within their domain to other fully qualified domain names. The advantage of the CNAME record is that no knowledge of the IP address(es) associated with the target fully qualified domain name is required.

“Unfortunately the capabilities of CNAMEs did not come without sacrifice,” explained David Miller, CTO of DNS Made Easy. “CNAME records cannot legally be created for the apex or root record of a domain. CNAME records must be unique; as such, users are not able to create additional records of different types (i.e. TXT, MX, etc.) at the same name. The uniqueness requirement also prevents the use of CNAME records in a round robin configuration. Finally, CNAME records can cause slower DNS resolution since they generally require at least a double DNS lookup. DNS Made Easy is committed to raising the bar in the industry as a whole, and we knew there had to be a better way. As a result, we designed one.”

With DNS Made Easys ANAME Record type, clients of DNS Made Easy can now realize the same ease of use of CNAME records without all the limitations and decrease in performance.

When an ANAME record is created, DNS Made Easy will synthesize all A records required for the name within the domain from the current values of the target of the ANAME record. DNS Made Easy will then continuously monitor the A records associated with the ANAMEs target fully qualified domain name. Whenever the IP address(es) of an ANAME target change, DNS Made Easy will instantly update the necessary A Records using their proprietary Peregrine Instant DNS update technology.

ANAME records can be used at the apex or root record for a domain. Because the resulting DNS records are A records, there is no longer a limitation on allowing an alias at the root record.

ANAME records provide ability to load balance CNAME records. If the user creates multiple ANAME records with the same name, the IP addresses of the targets will all be added in a round robin configuration in DNS Made Easy. If the alias side of the record maps to multiple IPs itself, DNS Made Easy will recognize this and will immediately update and create the IP mappings.

ANAME records also solve the performance problem with CNAME records. The correct IP is returned on the first lookup, rather than requiring additional lookups by resolving name servers. Faster DNS lookups make websites load faster and improve SEO.

ANAME records are fully compatible with and extend the functionality of the Global Traffic Director service from DNS Made Easy. An ANAME record created with a GTD region will cause queries for the targets value to be made only from hosts that are located within that particular region, this ensures that only regional values will be used for regional records and that traffic will continue to be directed geographically.

Most CDNs require CNAME records within customer domains to utilize the CDN service. Replacing these CNAME records with ANAME records can provide an extremely flexible and powerful solution to keep optimize the use of CDN services. The combination of ANAME records and GTD service removes the multiple DNS lookups of a CNAME and will provide regionally relevant values. This provides the complete power and flexibility that enterprise companies require from their networks today.

DNS Made Easy claims that other products similar to the ANAME record are available from other providers. These other products are limited in only being available at the apex of a domain, or can target records only provided by a particular hosting service, or do not offer geographically specific differentiation of values. DNS Made Easy believes that they are the only solution that allows clients to create an ANAME record for any name within a domain which targets any fully qualified domain name and combines this with the ability to serve geographically specific records.

“DNS Made Easy has provided our new ANAME Record functionality to all of our customers at no additional cost. We are excited to be the first and only DNS provider in the industry to provide such a unique and complete service,” stated David Miller. “All of this is done over our industry leading IP Anycast+ network, the worlds fastest and most redundant DNS network in the world. AAAANAME records are in testing and will be released to all of our customers shortly to provide the same functionality for IPv6 addresses.”

More information about DNS Made Easy suite of services is available at http://www.dnsmadeeasy.com

L-com Introduces Commercial-Grade Thinnet (10Base-2) and Thicknet (10Base-5) Converters for Legacy Installs

North Andover, MA (PRWEB) June 11, 2012

L-com, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of wired and wireless connectivity products, has released two new commercial grade Ethernet converters: one converts 10Base-T RJ45 to 10Base-2 Thinnet Coax BNC, the other converts 10Base-T RJ45 to 10Base-5 DB15M AUI (Thick Ethernet). Both converters are designed to allow legacy equipment with older-style Ethernet connections to be connected to modern Ethernet networks at 10 Mbps.

While Ethernet networking has long moved past these legacy interfaces, there are many older installs of expensive equipment that still utilize them. Due to cost or logistical considerations, many choose to extend the life of this older equipment that is already in place and paid for and adequately meets their requirements. The challenge is interfacing the old with the new. These new converter and transceiver products are small, light-weight, and relatively inexpensive.

“Users of legacy equipment are finding their options shrinking when they need to connect it to their modern network,” said Manuel Martinez, Product Manager. “We are introducing these products to help our customers continue to solve this problem.”

These new products are set to be stocked in the USA for same-day shipments, and datasheets with additional specification details are available on the L-com website.
