Peugeot 208 GTi Set for Spring Next Year

(PRWEB UK) 4 September 2012

Peugeot has announced its new addition to the already-iconic 208 range the Peugeot 208 GTi.

The new model which is due for UK release in spring 2013 includes a series of interior and exterior upgrades that promise to deliver desirability, performance and exhilaration.

Designed as a sportier version of the recently-launched 208, the GTi is directly inspired by the values of a Peugeot classic the 205 GTi.

The 208 GTi, however, is a thoroughly modern take on the legend.

Kicking off its host of visual renovations are its wheel-hugging arches, wing extensions and body sills, which combine to create a sleek, strong and immediate visual identity.

Up front, the special, gloss-black 208 grille frames and focusses attention on the eye-catching halogen headlamps. Using LED technology, these lamps look at once feline and sophisticated, whilst bringing to mind the most desirable future technologies.

The cars interior, too, has been redesigned with dark colour schemes, punctuated by red highlights and the striking effect is bolstered further by the inclusion of carefully created components. From the seat belts to the steering wheel insert, each component is individually endearing, but also part of a refined, unique and sporty whole.

The sporty look is driven too by its seats, which mix cloth and leather with vibrant red details that are carried through to the seat belts. Its not all looks, though drivers are treated to a comfortable driving position that allows for absolute clarity, with the attractively detailed handbrake and gear lever placed in easy reach.

Underneath the body, the revisions continue. The steering settings have been revised to offer a firmer driving experience, whilst the suspension newly-chosen for the Peugeot GTi responds with absolute precision.

The air-cooled brakes offer total control, too 249mm ventilated discs at the back, 302mm ventilated discs at the front.

The 1.6-litre TGP 200bhp petrol engine delivers a maximum torque of 275Nm, and a maximum power of 147kW. It takes less than seven seconds to go from nought to 62mph. It boasts an amended exhaust system that makes for an appealing and endearing sound at all engine speeds. It delivers a sporty, safe and enjoyable driving experience and it emits CO2 at only 145g/km. This incredible feat is down in part to its comparatively light weight, which also helps to boost performance.

The announcement of the Peugeot 208 GTi follows the recent successful launch of the Peugeot 208, in June of this year.

Peugeot has already received 8,500 orders for the original Peugeot 208 3-door and Peugeot 208 5-door, an accomplishment that the sporty, contemporary 208 GTi is sure to repeat.
