Health Care Reform: New Seminar Prepares Employers for 2014 and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

(PRWEB) August 29, 2012

CPI-HR recently educated over 120 employers and business executives on the latest Health Care Reform requirements and changes, during an information-packed seminar, Health Care Reform: Is Your Company Ready for 2014? Held in Independence, Ohio, the standing room only seminar attracted top Cleveland and surrounding area businesses. Theres nothing in the Affordable Care Act that makes health care affordable, and as a matter fact, it will end up costing employers more, stated Jim Hopkins, CEO of CPI-HR and one of the speakers at the seminar. Hopkins, and Compliance Director Peter J. Marathas spoke to an audience eager to learn how to best position their companies for 1/1/2014, which is only 16 months away.

One of the highlights was an introduction to a Pay or Play Calculator. This tool shows employers what their costs will be to purchase health care directly or buy through the Exchanges in 2014. With the recently upheld Patient Protections and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) law, this tool aids employers in their strategic benefit planning process. The Calculator takes into account all the current laws and uses several plan assumptions that are specific to various employer groups. Free to CPI-HR clients, the tool is also available via individual consultation

Employers in diverse industries said the seminar helped them better understand this serious business topic.

They spoke to the heart of the matter simplifying the overly complex Affordable Care Act and how it is going to affect my business and employees, said Glenn Smith, president and CEO of World Synergy. They shared some shocking information on the Affordable Care Act and who really benefits from this law.

Our thanks for the very informative seminar on Health Care. We learned a lot and feel better prepared to make future decisions, said George Kappos Jr., Chief Financial Officer of Erieview Metal Treating Co.

CPI-HR will continue to provide seminars, webinars and other educational events on health care topics, with the next scheduled seminar titled:

Reducing Health Care Costs: How to Leverage Claims Data to Develop Innovative Cost Saving Solutions will be held 1:30 to 5 p.m. September 12 at Embassy Suites in Independence, Ohio.

Learn How GIS Technology Helps the Future of Health Care

Aurora, Colo. (PRWEB) June 13, 2012

Health care is big business. Plunkett Research estimates that total U.S. health care expenditures are projected to reach $ 3.6 trillion in 2016 and hospitals are spending billions to improve their operations. A recent report released by In-Stat predicts that the U.S. health care industry will spend more than $ 4.5 billion on wireless data by 2014 and another $ 10 billion to improve data. This includes geographic information systems (GIS) technology.

Join Jason Haley, GIS manager for the advanced health care data company Stratasan, and Dr. Devon A. Cancilla, dean, business and technology at American Sentinel University, as they explore how hospitals and the trillion-dollar health care industry are benefitting from GIS technology to improve the financial bottom line in a complimentary webinar, Mapping Health Care with GIS on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 1 p.m. EDT.

Haley, who has an extensive background in geospatial engineering, cartographic design, geodatabase management and GIS processing will detail how Stratasan receives, cleans, maps and analyzes disparate health care data sets from clients to create immediate intelligence and streamline communications.

Register for the webinar, Mapping Health Care with GIS at https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/676870656.

Haley will demonstrate how he turns a patients address into a latitude-longitude point on a map. He will then add different geographic layers into the map documents to show revenue, high revenue, inpatient, outpatient, a trade area that displays patient percentages of area and competitors.

Haley will also describe how to display the data, why some data is more important than others and how to make it easily understandable to customers.

Once equipped with this data, Haleys clients can coordinate advertising efforts and regional improvements.

Through the analysis of GIS data we can show clients not only patients and physicians, but also referring physicians, attending physicians and admitting physicians in the hospital, says Haley. This helps hospitals get a strategic plan in place for how they want to operate and move forward in the future.

GIS computerized tools used to collect, archive, manage, retrieve, analyze and output geographic and other related kinds of data offer great potential to be a powerful tool for geospatial strategies to improve the health care industrys bottom line as they look to improve their operational efficiency.

The GIS courses at American Sentinel teach geographic information systems tools for developing data-driven solutions that help health care organizations visualize, analyze, interpret and present complex geolocation data to solve problems and overcome business challenges relevant to the health care industry, says Dr. Cancilla.

If you want to learn more about how GIS technology helps the future of health care, tune into American Sentinel’s webinar Mapping Health Care with GIS on Wednesday, June 20 at 1 p.m. EDT and register at https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/676870656.

Affordable Senior Housing at the Wartburg Adult Care Community Featured in New York Times

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 30, 2012

One of OCV Architects latest projects the Freidrichs, an affordable senior housing building was featured in the New York Times. This new construction project is located on the historic 26-acre campus of the Wartburg Adult Care Community in Mount Vernon, NY, and features 60 studio and one-bedroom units for independent senior living.

The Wartburg is a not-for-profit institution that today provides a full range of senior care and services, including skilled nursing care, rehabilitation, Alzheimers and dementia care, assisted and independent living, adult day care services, and home care. The Friedrichs will be an important new addition to the campus and to New York State, offering the type of housing seniors need more of housing that allows for independent living with the amenities and services geared toward their needs, all at a price they can afford.

In the article, spokeswoman for the Wartburg, Nancy Davis, says, The elderly are often better served if they can remain at home, taking advantage of the center and receiving help from social workers on a range of services.

OCV Architects designed the 55,000 square foot wood frame structure to compliment the historic buildings that make up this 146-year old institution. In addition to 60 spacious units of housing, the Friedrichs will provide residents with community spaces such as a fitness room, a library and computer room, meeting and multi-purpose spaces, and offices for support services. Together with the bucolic setting of the Wartburg campus, the Friedrichs was planned in keeping with the institutions mission of nurturing body, mind and spirit.

OCV is providing the Wartburg with the full range of architectural services from design through construction. Collaborating on the project are structural engineers Dominick R. Pilla Associates, P.C., civil engineers McLaren Engineering Group, MEP engineers Abraham Joselow, P.E., P.C., Steven Wind Landscape Architect, and general contractors Lecesse Construction.
