Apex, NC (PRWEB) June 11, 2012

Progress Solar Solutions, LLC to exhibit new solar light tower, durable and powerful enough to meet all Federal Government / Department of Defense needs and the rental equipment companies that serve them. The Progress Solar/Wind Light Tower (SLTW-1200) will be presented at the Environmental Symposium and is a great fit for this industrys high volume outdoor lighting needs which are dusk-to-dawn, seven days per week, year round. This model resembles a traditional portable diesel light tower but is powered by free, renewable energy instead of diesel fuel and can meet those challenging needs.

The Progress SolarTM SLT-1200 series of portable light towers is the most powerful available today, especially when combined with the New Wind Generator positioned on a telescoping mast above the flood lights. They are made in the U.S. (patent pending) and routinely operate independent of diesel, gas or the electric grid eliminating the use of fossil fuels or generation of carbon emissions. The solar light towers are powered by two on-board, high capacity solar generators and a wind generator, backed up by a dual bank rapid AC charger, if ever needed. These units are specifically designed for extremely demanding applications that need to be operational for lighting-on-demand year round. The large battery banks store power for several nights of lighting to allow use during cloudy days or inclement weather.

The Progress Solar SLT1200-HVR-N is a rugged, mobile light system that provides high-intensity, bright white lighting on-demand, where and when you need it. It is equipped with high power generating solar modules housed on automated solar wings that can be optimally positioned toward the sun to maximize solar energy gain combined with a wind generator to add additional wind power at night and during inclement weather for areas with an average wind speed of >/=7MPH; a telescoping mast equipped with 4 solid-state LED flood lights with high lumen output; and a long-life Power Module with sealed, AGM, no maintenance, deep-cycle batteries to store energy for use when needed. The light tower is fully adjustable from 12-30ft in height, able to tilt up/down and can rotate ~358 degrees. The solid-state LED flood lights provide a tremendous amount of bright white light, minimize power requirements, provide instant-on/off without flickering, are extremely reliable, vibration and shatter resistant, and designed to provide up to 5x longer run time between bulb changes than metal halide lights. The maximum power point tracking solar/light control module optimizes solar gain and protects the system. The lights can be turned on/off automatically from a timer, at user-programmable time intervals or manually on-demand. The system is on a portable trailer customized for maximum functionality and convenience and can be easily towed to its destination.

Dan Robertson, Partner of Progress Solar Solutions, commented, The SLTW-1200 series is a direct result of listening to some of the largest and most demanding outdoor lighting clients with challenging and extensive lighting applications like the Military, Oil & Gas, Mining, Public Utilities and Disaster Recovery. It also helps address the needs of clients in more solar challenged geographic areas.

Canadian Government Invests in Leapfrog Lighting for Higher-Quality, More Energy-Efficient LED Light Bulbs

Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) March 28, 2015

At a news event today, the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology) announced that Leapfrog Lighting will receive up to $ 150,000 through the National Research Council of Canadas Industrial Research Assistance Program.

Our government is strongly committed to initiatives that support science, technology and the growth of innovative Canadian firms,” said Minister Goodyear. “Like so many small and medium-sized businesses in Ontario, Leapfrog Lighting is doing some really innovative work. These businesses are critical to the Canadian economy and our government will continue to put in place the tools that Canadians need to grow, create jobs and secure their long-term prosperity.

Leapfrog Lighting’s goal is to improve LED lighting technologies with a special focus on quality of light. Leapfrog Lightings CEO, Stephen Naor, explained that the two obstacles to mainstream adoption of LED lighting are quality of light and economic value proposition. The new LED technology, based on advanced optical and thermal designs, is engineered to remove both barriers to adoption of energy-efficient LED light bulbs.

Leapfrog Lighting develops and markets advanced LED light bulbs with an optical and thermal design that provides measurable improvements in the lighting quality required by facility managers, architects and retailers, explained a Canadian Federal Government news release. Leapfrogs light bulbs exhibit improved glare control, light distribution and colour consistency over existing LED technologies.

The worldwide market for LED bulbs is projected to grow to $ 107 billion US annually within three years as new technologies improve light quality and price point. Leapfrogs made-in-Canada solution will save up to ten times the power usage of traditional incandescent bulbs, and will sell for less than current LED bulbs.

At Leapfrog, we see a future where every home and business adopts LED lighting, said Mr. Naor. In this future, we see a made-in-Canada solution that removes the barriers to LED lighting adoption by the mainstream.

Leapfrog Lighting already markets specification-grade LED bulbs with superior, consistent light qualities, popular with facility managers, retailers, architects, interior designers and galleries. These new bulbs will be more efficient and less expensive and will have better light, explained the Canadian Government news release.

The Minister stressed the importance of innovators such as Leapfrog Lighting, explaining that Canadas economic success does not depend on what governments dobut on what companies like Leapfrog do. He emphasized that Leapfrog, and other small businesses are the job creators and innovators.

Leapfrog Lightings new LED bulbs will be specified, designed and manufactured in Canada, partially funded by the involvement of IRAP, through the Ministry of Industry, and also through the Government of Ontarios Innovation Demonstration Fund, said Mr. Naor.

The investment is part of an initiative from the National Research Councils Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) to help small- to mid-sized enterprises commercialize quickly. IRAP assists Canadian corporations with R&D and commercialization support for new products and processes designed to access new markets.

The Canada Economic Action Plan 2013 makes $ 20 million available over three years for a pilot program delivered through IRAP, focused on assisting small to mid-sized companies commercialize more quickly. Separately, the Canadian Economic Action Plan 2012 makes $ 500 million available in venture capital, with $ 110 million allocated to NRC each year to expand IRAPs reach and services

First Light Technologies Lights up St.Pete Beach Florida with Solar LED Bollards

Victoria, BC (PRWEB) August 14, 2012

First Light Technologies Ltd., a leading designer of architectural-quality, integrated solar-powered LED lighting products for pedestrian applications, announces the successful installation of its new PLB Series Solar LED Bollards by the City of St. Pete Beach in Southern Florida.

First Lights bollard design fit our needs perfectly, said Renee Cooper, CIP Construction Manager at City of St. Pete Beach. The choice to use solar not only provided a visibly green statement but was also cost effective. Short term cost savings included being able to deduct the cost for conduit and wiring. The long term cost savings can be realized by not having any additional monthly electrical service fees. The bollards could be categorized as being a one-time capital cost with long-term savings benefits.

Cooper also felt the LED solar lighting provided by First Light Technologies has a future with the city, Installation was simple and the response has been fabulous. The community loves the look of the bollards and the ambience of the softly lit pathways. We will be looking at other areas to utilize the bollards and I foresee more of these being installed in the near future.

St. Pete Beach officials installed the PLB lights as part of a park improvement project at Horan Park, which included new sidewalks, sod and large solar pole lights. For areas remote from the existing electrical panel, budget constraints called for a solar stand-alone lighting solution that could be installed with minimal site disturbance, reducing cost by eliminating conduit, wiring and trenching. The city also required the light to be vandal resistant and able to withstand high winds and flying debris of a coastal location, to avoid ongoing maintenance and repair costs.

City officials chose our new PLB Series Solar LED Bollard for their robust design, ease of installation and cost savings, said Justin Taverna, First Light Technologies Managing Director and Co-founder. Feedback from our client following installation is excellent, confirming our confidence that we have launched a remarkable product into the $ 13 billion outdoor and architectural lighting market.

About the PLB Series Solar Powered Bollard
