No Sweat: Leader in High Tech Auto Sealing Now Makes Life More Comfortable in Chicken Coops, Too

Ann Arbor, MI (PRWEB) June 14, 2012

The company that keeps tens of millions of automobile interiors quiet and dry is also making life more comfortable in a much different environment: chicken coops. Jyco Sealing Technologies, a world leader in the sealing systems for car doors, moveable windows and engine compartments, announced today that it is supplying exhaust fan seals for poultry and egg production facilities.

The Jyco seal, which is made from an extruded rubber-plastic compound called TPV, replaces rubber seals that fatigue, discolor and cannot be recycled. According to Jyco, the new seals answer industry demands for reliable performance, increased durability, and improved aesthetics.

Airflow is extremely important to livestock production, says John McGovern, manager of Jycos Industrial Products Division. Comfortable birds eat better and produce more eggs, and the exhaust system is critical to the comfort of that environment. Excessive airflow can increase the mortality rate among young birds. Too little airflow will make it too hot and reduce the birds weight and egg productivity.

The new TPV exhaust fan seals last longer, conserve energy, cost less, and wont discolor. The old seals were rubber, which would fatigue and look nasty. In any application to do with food, you want everything to be as clean, tidy and consistent as possible.

Jyco TPV seals are better for the environment before, during and after their installation. The company processes its TPV without particulate or VOC emissions, and production scrap is directly recyclable. The new fan seals are made in part using http://www.jycosealingtechnologies.com/en/jygreen.php, technology that Jyco pioneered in 2007 to reclaim rubber from used tires and reprocess it into high performance extruded TPV sealing systems. And if the exhaust fan is ever replaced, Jycos seal can be recycled.

Jyco is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has manufacturing plants in Canada, Mexico and China. Jyco is the only supplier to have earned a Corporate TS/ISO/16949/9000 certification for Design, Testing, and Manufacturing of TPV seals.

Canadian Government Invests in Leapfrog Lighting for Higher-Quality, More Energy-Efficient LED Light Bulbs

Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) March 28, 2015

At a news event today, the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology) announced that Leapfrog Lighting will receive up to $ 150,000 through the National Research Council of Canadas Industrial Research Assistance Program.

Our government is strongly committed to initiatives that support science, technology and the growth of innovative Canadian firms,” said Minister Goodyear. “Like so many small and medium-sized businesses in Ontario, Leapfrog Lighting is doing some really innovative work. These businesses are critical to the Canadian economy and our government will continue to put in place the tools that Canadians need to grow, create jobs and secure their long-term prosperity.

Leapfrog Lighting’s goal is to improve LED lighting technologies with a special focus on quality of light. Leapfrog Lightings CEO, Stephen Naor, explained that the two obstacles to mainstream adoption of LED lighting are quality of light and economic value proposition. The new LED technology, based on advanced optical and thermal designs, is engineered to remove both barriers to adoption of energy-efficient LED light bulbs.

Leapfrog Lighting develops and markets advanced LED light bulbs with an optical and thermal design that provides measurable improvements in the lighting quality required by facility managers, architects and retailers, explained a Canadian Federal Government news release. Leapfrogs light bulbs exhibit improved glare control, light distribution and colour consistency over existing LED technologies.

The worldwide market for LED bulbs is projected to grow to $ 107 billion US annually within three years as new technologies improve light quality and price point. Leapfrogs made-in-Canada solution will save up to ten times the power usage of traditional incandescent bulbs, and will sell for less than current LED bulbs.

At Leapfrog, we see a future where every home and business adopts LED lighting, said Mr. Naor. In this future, we see a made-in-Canada solution that removes the barriers to LED lighting adoption by the mainstream.

Leapfrog Lighting already markets specification-grade LED bulbs with superior, consistent light qualities, popular with facility managers, retailers, architects, interior designers and galleries. These new bulbs will be more efficient and less expensive and will have better light, explained the Canadian Government news release.

The Minister stressed the importance of innovators such as Leapfrog Lighting, explaining that Canadas economic success does not depend on what governments dobut on what companies like Leapfrog do. He emphasized that Leapfrog, and other small businesses are the job creators and innovators.

Leapfrog Lightings new LED bulbs will be specified, designed and manufactured in Canada, partially funded by the involvement of IRAP, through the Ministry of Industry, and also through the Government of Ontarios Innovation Demonstration Fund, said Mr. Naor.

The investment is part of an initiative from the National Research Councils Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) to help small- to mid-sized enterprises commercialize quickly. IRAP assists Canadian corporations with R&D and commercialization support for new products and processes designed to access new markets.

The Canada Economic Action Plan 2013 makes $ 20 million available over three years for a pilot program delivered through IRAP, focused on assisting small to mid-sized companies commercialize more quickly. Separately, the Canadian Economic Action Plan 2012 makes $ 500 million available in venture capital, with $ 110 million allocated to NRC each year to expand IRAPs reach and services

my Travel Assistant, the iOS App for Travelers Simplifies Expense Tracking During International Travel and More!

Budapest, Hungary (PRWEB) July 19, 2012

my Travel Assistant by Gamma Project is a professional app for global travelers that integrates into a single, convenient package a smart, multi-currency expense tracker with automatic currency conversion, a 156-currency monetary exchange rate converter and a 51-language translator.

Designed as an intelligent assistant for international travelers, the app stores all expenses in both the local and converted, home currencies. With a high-end, dark wood-grain GUI, the app includes no instructions for use; all operations are intuitive and trouble-free.

One-time set-up includes entering the user’s language, home currency, and the frequency of exchange rate updates.

The designers have paid great attention to human factors.

For example, English, Spanish, French, Italian and German appear in their respective places in the scrolling list that appears by touching “Your Language”, but the group of five most common languages also appears at the head of the list.

Similarly, the app defaults to the user’s local currency, with the main currencies – US dollar, yen, euro, swiss francs, british pounds and Canadian dollar – leading an alphabetical list of 156 different currencies.

Used currencies are added automatically to the top of the currency list, so next time you can quickly access them without having to scroll to the list again.

Set-up complete, the home page displays four buttons: Travel Expenses, Currency Converter, Translator, and Quick Add. A summary of the last expense is also shown on the main screen for convenience. The quick add function allows fast expense entry, and goes straight to the entry page of the last trip.

Travel Expenses is the heart of the app, and the Travel Expenses page contains an artfully designed scrolling list of all trips ordered by date by default. The order of trips and expense items can be customized.

The user may substitute any photo or graphic for the generic icon displayed with each travel expense listing, which includes the trip’s label (i.e. the country or city), the description of the expense (e.g. work, personal, etc.), the date and the total amount of all expenses, automatically converted to the user’s home currency.

Selecting any entry brings up an itemized listing of each individual expense for that particular trip. When entering an expense in the local currency the user may enter a description, and choose a predefined category. Included, with appropriate icons, are: Transportation (Flight), Cash Withdrawal, Taxi, Local Transportation, Hotel, Camping, Fuel, Road Tolls, Souvenirs, Food & Drink, Treatment (Hospital), Shopping, Entertainment, Additional Fees, and Other.

Sums are entered using the built-in, multi-function calculator.

Both the trips and the expenses scrolling list is fully editable, and displays individual expenses in both local and home currencies, plus the date and description.

The currency converter function features side-by-side odometer displays for going from any one of 156 currencies to another. The large entry keypad also includes a calculator function. Results are displayed in the dual odometer highlight window with the currency listing. For example, entering 1,555 displays “Japanese Yen – 1,555 JPY” on the left cylinder, and “US Dollars – 20.202 USD” on the right.

You can quickly change the direction of the conversion by tapping the arrow button situated in the center of the odometer display.

The translator function employs two text fields, each with a labeled flag beside it. The user selects his native language/flag and enters the word or phrase to be translated in the text field. The translator supports copy and paste functionality, allowing translation of eMails or web content. Selecting any of 51 languages displays the translation in red type in the second text field.

Ultra-Clean, Benzene-Free Gasoline May Become More Affordable in North America Soon

La Vista, Nebraska (PRWEB) June 20, 2012

Chase invited BioSyn to participate in a grant program offering which it co-sponsors with LivingSocial called Mission: Small Business. BioSyn responded by applying for one of its projects, which is the production and marketing of ultra-clean, benzene-free universal gasoline.

Unbeknownst to many, conventional gasoline contains, and depends on, benzene, toluene and mixed xylenes to meet octane requirements. However, benzene is a potent carcinogenic chemical, while toluene and mixed xylenes are highly toxic.

When used as fuel for passenger cars running on spark ignition engines, conventional gasoline does not pose immediate health hazard. This is because modern cars are equipped with catalytic converters that convert unburned gasoline exhausts into relatively harmless carbon dioxide and water vapor.

However, it is common practice to use conventional gasoline in yard works equipments like lawn mowers, weed cutters, snow blowers, etc. These equipments are not equipped with catalytic converters. Worse, most yard works equipments are powered by 2-cycle engines that require 2-cycle oil. Two-cycle oils do not burn and are emitted as visible smoke. In addition, 2-cycle oils contain organometallics that contribute to high toxicity of emissions.

It is for the above reasons that BioSyn developed an ultra-clean gasoline devoid of benzene, toluene, mixed xylenes, other aromatics and olefins. This industry-exclusive gasoline can also be used in 2-cycle engines without the application of 2-cycle oil, thus eliminating smoke emissions.

Currently marketed under the trade name DM-X 95G, it will be priced the same as conventional gasoline when BioSyns planned biorefinery is finally up. In meantime, DM-X 95G is marketed to nich
