BobCAD-CAM Manufacturers of The Future Program Provides Powerful & Affordable CAD/CAM CNC Software to Students, Teachers & Schools

Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) November 06, 2012

BobCAD-CAM, the world leader in powerful and affordable CAD/CAM software, recently noticed a high demand for more accessible CAD/CAM software programs in schools. The company launched a new program, Manufacturers of the Future, to answer this demand and provide teachers and students with the latest in design machining software technology at costs that can easily fit into their budgets.

The new program offers advanced CAD/CAM licenses for classrooms, or labs that need multiple stations, at a reduced cost. The teachers are provided with training products, such as instructional videos, and are given technical support to ensure they are successful in developing curriculums and teaching CAD/CAM.

The program was designed to prepare students to enter the manufacturing workforce readily equipped with the necessary design knowledge as well as the actual software required for machining.

Through Manufacturers of the Future, BobCAD-CAM has worked with schools such as Vincennes University, Virginia Tech School of Architecture + Design, Cleveland Industrial Training Center, Waukee High School, and University of Michigan Medical Innovation Center.

BobCAD-CAM sponsored Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Acton, Massachusetts with a $ 53,000 CAD/CAM software grant so that the high school industrial engineering program could have the required technology for their students to excel in their labs.

At this years Indiana Statewide Machine Trades Contest for high school students, BobCAD-CAM awarded software to the first, second, and third place CNC Division winners, as well as the first place Advanced Division winner.

Most recently, BobCAD-CAM sponsored a Canadian student team, Blazing Arrow, in the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge. The team was provided with software and grant money to design, create, and race their own model car against other schools in the challenge. The team took home the 2012 Canadian F1 in Schools Championship, the Fastest Car Award, the Best Collaboration Team Award, and the Best Marketing Award. BobCAD-CAM also provided the team with travel funds to attend the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge World Finals in Abu Dhabi, where they came in a very close second for fastest car.

City Bikes Manufacturer Linus Bikes Comments on New York Citys New Bike Share Program

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) August 16, 2012

On August 16, City Bikes Manufacturer Linus Bikes commented on the first New York City bike sharing program called Citi Bike. Citi Bike is poised to launch with 7,000 strategically located rentable bicycles across parts of New York, making this the largest program to date in the United States. Following a recent expansion of city bike lanes, the program is designed to be an alternate form of travel for the millions of city residents who make daily use of mass transit.

As detailed by the BBC, New York Citys Department of Transportation estimates that half of the daily commutes in the city are less than 2 miles. With an initial launch of 7000 bikes and 420 stations, Citi Bike is placing rental stations in areas with heavy foot traffic, like Grand Central Station. The program will initially be focused on lower Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, with the city already planning a large expansion for 2013. The rental bikes are armored, high-tech velocipede drones; outfitted with GPS for trip tracking, front and rear lights that glow upon pedaling, heavy-duty tires and a thick frame.

Linus Bikes representative China Reevers comments, This is certainly one of the most ambitious bike sharing programs to date. New York has certainly done their homework, and introducing a fleet of bikes to the populace will hopefully add to the citys clean air initiative, promoting a healthier option for a daily commute. This combination of a greener planet and healthier living is what Linus Bikes is all about.

While the green movement continues to grow, cities are taking an increased interest in other transit options as other cities embrace bike sharing programs. Reevers adds, Doubts about the viability of bike sharing programs should diminish as these programs gain popularity and expand. If New Yorks Citi Bike program can prove to be successful, it should only pave the way for future bike sharing programs. Our bicycles arent only for commuting but they are to help encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Linus Bikes is a California-based bicycle manufacturer that specializes in creating vintage style city bikes and commuter bikes. Not simply a bicycle company, Linus Bikes sells a complete line of accessories for the environmentally conscious and for those who have a fondness for European style bicycles and the great tradition of European cycling.

Teachers, Parents Praise New Reading Program In Pennsylvania School District For Helping Struggling Students Increase Their Test Scores

Swiftwater, PA (PRWEB) July 27, 2012

As the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in one of the most diverse school districts in Pennsylvania, Dr. Catherine Sweeney needed a way to boost the progress of her high-risk student population. Then, one of her teachers discovered StudyDog, an interactive reading program designed for elementary schools.

Our students were not making any type of progress, Sweeney explained. We have to prepare our students for them to be successful in the 21st century. I think the key is that you need to keep up with technology.

The Pocono Mountain School District faced several challenges with more than half of the districts roughly 10,000 students economically disadvantaged. About 21 percent of the students had learning disabilities and 5 percent were learning English for the first time.

Click here to visit the website to see how it works.

Forty percent of kindergarteners in the Pocono Mountain School District did not possess basic phonemic skills when they entered the school system last fall. The lack of those basic skills makes it incredibly difficult for students to learn phonics at the primary level. But using Web-based software from StudyDog, teachers tailored interactive learning programs to the specific needs of each child.

We have been extremely pleased with the program, Sweeney said.

After testing StudyDog last spring in classes for children with special needs, administrators rolled out the program for all students in kindergarten through second grade.

Academy of Art University and Berghs Launch First of Its Kind International Summer Program

San Francisco, California and Stockholm, Sweden (PRWEB) June 18, 2012

Today, the Academy of Art University, the largest private school of art and design in the United States, and Berghs School of Communication, based in Stockholm, announced the launch of an international collaboration that provides students from both Universities with a unique opportunity to work on real-world creative projects with industry professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area this summer. The program brings together students from multiple disciplines, including Graphic Design, Advertising, and Web Design/New Media, and provides them with a unique opportunity to learn about all aspects of the creative process directly from industry professionals. The program starts today in San Francisco and will conclude on August 10, when students will exhibit their completed projects from the session.

Academy of Art University President Elisa Stephens said, This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for students to work together with their peers around the world on real projects with guidance from industry leaders. Not only will students leave this program with hands-on experience, but they will get a real feel for the pressures and challenges that creative firms and executives face everyday in meeting deadlines and producing impactful work. We are very excited about partnering with the prestigious Berghs school and welcome their students and staff to the great city of San Francisco this summer.

A class of 25-30 students, half from Berghs and half from the Academy, will be divided into teams of five, where each student will have a specific role as a Project Director/Manager, Strategist/Planner, Copywriter, Art Director, Web Designer, Interactive Designer, or Graphic Designer, depending on project needs.

The semester is broken into two projects with the first focusing on international marketing, planning, and cultural diversity and using a real-life communications case for a local start-up as a base for learning. Students will make a real agency pitch and create strategic plans for an international communication challenge targeted at a diverse audience. The second project, which involves technology industry leader Adobe, covers the entire communication spectrum from insight and strategy to execution and presentation, following a five-step model from real-life agency work. The students will work on a real-life project for Adobe and at the end present their solutions before their client and instructors.

We are thrilled to provide our students with an opportunity to learn from the industry leaders right here in San Francisco, said Camilla Wallander, CEO of Berghs School of Communication. We have always believed that teamwork and collaboration leads to the most creative work and we are looking forward to seeing what students from thousands of miles away come together and produce this summer.
