Fiorano Positioned in Visionary Quadrant for Application Infrastructure for Systematic Application Integration Projects

Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) June 28, 2012

Fiorano Software (http://www.fiorano.com), a leader in enterprise integration and messaging middleware solutions, announced today that it has been positioned in the Visionary Quadrant in Gartner, Inc.’s recently released research paper “Magic Quadrant for Application Infrastructure for Systematic Application Integration Projects.”

The report examines vendors whose products address the needs of systematic application-to-application (A2A), business-to-business (B2B) and cloud-to-on-premises application integration. Fioranos SOA Platform, Enterprise Service Bus (Fiorano ESB), Cloud platform (Fiorano Cloud), messaging software (FioranoMQ) and related application adapters were evaluated in this Magic Quadrant.

The exit of several vendors from the middleware business leaves Fiorano as the only vendor that has been featured in the Visionary Quadrant in this category for 9 straight years now; this makes it one of the most consistent innovators in the business.

Fiorano is the only vendor with both, application and distributed system integration capabilities and a unified approach toward hybrid deployments of cloud and on-premise applications, said Atul Saini, CEO of Fiorano Software. Fiorano is also the only vendor with a cohesive product set in contrast to the mega-vendors who have challenges with product rationalization and incompatibility issues with myriad products that they have acquired through take-overs. We are committed to maintaining our lead with continuous innovation in our products and their features, he added.

Explaining technology shifts, the Gartner report states: Historically, B2B and A2A integrations have been considered separate practices conducted by separate groups. However, at the technology level, B2B integration technology has much in common with middleware for A2A integration, including communication, transformation, adapters and orchestration features. For this reason, organizations are moving toward establishing best practices that create a unified approach for A2A and B2B integration.

The Quadrant shortlisted 27 vendors last year but has only 17 vendors this year, with a dozen vendors dropped for reasons such as lack of geographic coverage, lack of market penetration or becoming the subject of a merger or acquisition.

Academy of Art University Launches Digital Alumni Magazine

San Francisco, California (PRWEB) June 19, 2012

The Academy of Art University announced today that it has launched a new, free iPad app featuring the art and design work of alumni. The A/JOURNAL app, which brings to life the Universitys A/JOURNAL traditional print quarterly magazine, features accomplishments of Academy alumni worldwide, including photo galleries, interviews, videos, slideshows, and interactive opportunities.

The app, which can be downloaded for free on iTunes, was created in partnership with Adobe, developer of the Digital Publishing Suite, and MEI, which built the templates and interactive elements using Digital Publishing Suite technology and continues to provide the Academy with hands-on training and support.

Academy alumni are some of the worlds greatest artists and designers, said Dr. Elisa Stephens, President of the Academy of Art University. We wanted to create an interactive digital media platform that allows people to fully grasp the color, detail and creativity behind each alumni project. Adobe and MEI have enabled us to create an interactive app that not only allows alumni to share their work on new projects with their fellow alumni, but that allows the public to see the high-quality work that Academy graduates are doing in their chosen professions.

Features of the new app include:

Table of Contents Page: A tool that allows the user to preview articles by swiping through photos.

Latitude/Longitude Map: What was once a standard map feature in the print magazine has been brought to life by hyperlinks that reveal GPS locations of alumni on a Google map.

Video: Academy graduates include motion-picture artists, animators and video-game designers, among others, which makes video a crucial feature of the alumni magazine.

Profiles: Features about former students who are applying the skills they developed at the Academy of Art in their professional careers. Stories include hyperlinks to websites so users can learn more about the person and their work.

Out There Section: Updates on alumni featuring slideshows and videos, including an interactive feature that allows other alumni to submit descriptions of projects for future editions.

Social Networking: The app includes a live Twitter feed with the ability to tweet, email or share via the Facebook and LinkedIn networks.

Adobe Digital Publishing Suite is ideal for a university like the Academy of Art because it enables projects that cant be fully showcased in print media to come alive. From illustration and video to multimedia, entire galleries of work can be displayed in a much more comprehensive, engaging way, said Trevor Bailey, director of worldwide education, Adobe. Using Adobe Digital Publishing Suite not only enriches the way the work is shown, but it provides the university with an opportunity to save significant costs, reach a wider audience on all leading mobile platforms, build brand in the digital space and have a positive impact on the environment.

The beauty of this partnership is that weve been able to provide the Academy of Art University with a cutting-edge digital publication that maintains design continuity with their traditional print publication, said David Gillespie, MEI Senior Account Executive. We are currently helping the university maximize the capabilities of this technology, and are looking forward to breaking new ground with them in their ongoing digital efforts.

National Trust For Historic Preservation Names North Dakota’s Elkhorn Ranch One Of America’s Most Endangered Places

Washinton DC (PRWEB) June 07, 2012

This annual list spotlights important examples of the nations architectural, cultural and natural heritage that are at risk of destruction or irreparable damage. More than 230 sites have been on the list over its 25-year history, and in that time, only a handful of listed sites have been lost.

A proposed road and bridge near Elkhorn Ranch would visually disrupt the landscape as well as introduce industrial traffic, noise and dust, through the very place that inspired Roosevelts views on conservation, according to Stephanie Meeks, President of the National Trust. Additionally, a permit for a proposed private gravel mining operation directly across the Little Missouri River from the Elkhorn Ranch Site is nearing approval from the U.S. Forest Service.

Earlier this week, the Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA) announced its support for a proposal to designate the area where Roosevelt ranched before he became president as a national monument. Tweed Roosevelt, great grandson of Theodore Roosevelt and President of the TRA, said today he welcomes the recognition by the National Trust and will work with the Trust staff to preserve the site.

North Dakota is lucky to have one of the most famous sites in the history of conservation, Theodore Roosevelt’s Elkhorn Ranch, right in its beautiful Bad Lands, said Tweed Roosevelt. TR fought those who would ravage our natural resources for the benefit of the few. Now it is time to fight to save his ranch from the same type of selfish people today who would destroy it for their own personal gain.

Lowell Baier, former president of the Boone and Crockett Club, and a trustee of the Theodore Roosevelt Association, said: The Elkhorn Ranch is the very cradle of conservation in America, the sacred ground of the conservation movement, a geographic, tangible Arcadian icon of Americans cultural identity, symbolizing the conservation ethic unique to our Nation which Theodore Roosevelt conceived here in the 1880s. Hence it has also been referred to as the Walden Pond of the American West.

The Elkhorn Ranch, located along the Little Missouri River in the rugged North Dakota Badlands, inspired President Theodore Roosevelts deep appreciation for the American West and for conservation. Roosevelt first traveled to the Dakota Badlands in the 1880s to hunt buffalo and was so taken by the area that he invested in two ranches, making the Elkhorn Ranch his home. It was here that he first witnessed the rapid degradation of America’s wilderness and wildlife, and recognized the importance of conserving such national resources. The heart of the ranch is part of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

During his presidency, Roosevelt set aside over 230 million acres of public lands in the form of National Parks, National Monuments, National Wildlife Refuges and National Forests. Roosevelt said of Elkhorn, I never would have been President if it had not been for my experience in North Dakota.

“The Elkhorn Ranch is not only a picturesque historic site, but as a home to Theodore Roosevelt, a true cradle of conservation in the United States, said Trust President Meeks. “Building a road this close to the Elkhorn Ranch would permanently destroy the nationally significant historic place. Roosevelt had an enormous influence on Americas public lands system and promoted nationwide conservation of natural and cultural sites. His legacy should continue today through protection of this place.

Public comments on the proposed road and Little Missouri River crossing are being taken by the Federal Highway Administration until June 22. They can be submitted by mail to Kadrmas, Lee and Jackson, Jennifer Turnbow, Project Manager, 128 Soo Line Dr., Bismarck, ND 58501 or by email to jennifer(dot)turnbow(at)kljeng(dot)com. Public comments on the proposed gravel mining operation are being taken by the U.S. Forest Service until June 11. A copy of the environmental assessment on the gravel operation, and the opportunity to comment, can be found at http://www.fs.fed.us/r1/dakotaprairie/.

Members of the public are invited to learn more about what they can do to support these 11 historic places and hundreds of other endangered sites at http://www.PreservationNation.org/places

Bike Rack Shops Identifies how Bike Racks are Poised to Remain One of the Least Expensive Ways to Earn Points when LEED Standards Changes Take Place in November

Lake Forest, IL (PRWEB) May 01, 2012

The U.S. Green Building Council is preparing to enact its modifications to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification requirements in November. Every change by the Council is to promote its goal of reducing emissions, and in this case, to benefit cyclists and encourage more people to ride their bikes instead of driving. Cyclists should come to see commercial bike racks in more convenient locations and be integrated into the buildings design scheme more seamlessly.

According to the Councils website, key changes regarding bike racks dictate the maximum distance an outdoor bike rack can be from a buildings front door, and how the bike racks must be within 200 yards of a bicycle network. The bicycle network requirement is new, and an additional guideline stipulates how a school, transit stop, or 10 other uses must be within three miles for a building to receive credit. Some builders may find difficulty integrating bike racks into a buildings architectural landscape or even come to find that the building doesnt meet the location requirements for including a commercial bike rack.

The changes make it all the more important for builders to find commercial bike racks that are going to fit the design aesthetic of the building. Low-profile racks, like the bike dock, only require a small footprint, and they dont disrupt the visual appeal of the building. Wave-style bike racks, on the other hand, can accommodate many bikes and are available in a wide range of colors.

The cycling enthusiasts at Bike Rack Shops view the changes as good ones. People are going to be willing to install commercial bike racks that are more attractive and more convenient for cyclists to use, which is in line with our goal of encouraging people to ride their bikes, remarked Alex Miller, President of Renaissance Retail, Bike Rack Shops parent company. They also feel the more finished looks of the buildings will benefit builders, full-time occupants of buildings, and visitors to buildings certified under the U.S. Green Councils new standards.

Bike Rack Shops was the Internets first dedicated source for meeting the vehicle and storage rack needs of cyclists and has evolved into the Internets leading source for bicycle and storage racks. Its mission is to provide outstanding service, the lowest allowable prices, and the widest selection of leading bike rack brands. Headquartered in Lake Forest, Illinois, Bike Rack Shops is a division of Renaissance Retail, the Internets leading source for specialty consumer products.

Reliance Foundry Launches New Decorative Plastic Bollard Product Line

Surrey, British Columbia (PRWEB) May 24, 2012

Decorative plastic bollard post covers are manufactured from polyethylene thermoplastic; they fit over a variety of standard bollard posts, they are available in a variety of standard colors, and they are extremely easy to permanently install over existing posts – instantly improving their appearance. These bollards are ideal in harsh weather, and are fade resistant. The covers can be purchased and placed over existing steel bollard posts, or they can be used to add aesthetic enhancements for new, utilitarian steel pipe bollards.

Occasionally, old security posts, worn out or cracking cement bollards, or other rusted steel bollard pipes are removed from their foundations without a second thought given to their usability. Because their outward appearance no longer fits with their surroundings, removal or replacement seems the easiest choice. However, now those posts can continue to serve the landscape and property with style. Reliance Foundrys ornamental plastic post covers fit over top of existing posts, extending their life, and reducing the need to consider removal and replacement.

Reliances patented Ideal Shield decorative bollard covers are produced with a green initiative strategy. They place high importance on reusing materials — even regrinding every drop of plastic, damaged pieces or returned product — so that nothing is wasted.

Our customers will find this new product line a cost-efficient way to make their existing bollards and posts aesthetically pleasing while enjoying the benefits of durability and low-maintenance said Reliance Foundry Vice President, Brad Done.

This new decorative bollard cover line includes 6 different styles that come in several standard colors. Each one is made using ultraviolet and anti-static additives which prevent fading and help the cover retain its appearance. They add an element of elegance to otherwise industrial-looking security posts.

Done also commented, Our new covers are architecturally appealing and ideal for areas that have strict visual ordinances because of their setting. They allow stores, offices and residences to provide security bollards that are elegant and non-obtrusive.

Finding a style that suits the property should not be a problem. Options range from sleek, minimalistic stylings, to covers with detail throughout the length of the post. Models are available to fit over 6.5 dia. pipe, and larger models are available for fitting over top of wider posts (i.e. 10 in diameter).

Decorative plastic bollard covers offer stylish, architecturally appealing bollard protection; they are a great option for municipalities with strict visual ordinances and non-industrial settings. Reliance Foundry is excited to be able to offer these new ornamental covers along with the many other models in their growing bollard product line.

About Reliance Foundry Co. Ltd.

Reliance Foundry has been a family-owned business since 1927. Bollards are one of its main product lines, along with industrial wheels, bike parking products and investment castings.
