FX Design Group and Giant Octopus Score Big with BYU Motion Design Project Just in Time for the Cougar Season Opener

Ocoee, FL (PRWEB) October 05, 2012

In 2011, BYU made the strategic decision to become one of the nations top collegiate sports broadcasting networks. It started with a multi-million dollar state-of-the-art television broadcast studio. The next critical step was to bring in the best team of sports production personnel available. BYU accomplished this goal by recruiting alumnus and former ESPN SportsCenter Producer, Mikel Minor, to lead the new team. One of Mikels earliest tasks was to reinvigorate the BYU brand through a new visual spectrum, including a brand new motion design package.

In March of 2012, Mikels team started their search for the motion design firm that could meet his branding and production challenge. After multiple phone calls, e-mails and a face to face concept presentation in Provo, Utah, the decision was made in late May to go with GO. One of the BYU teams major criteria was to find a collaborative partner they could establish a positive working relationship with. It was as important as finding a creative motion design firm that understood the various nuances in creating eye-popping motion design sports packages. They believed that GO fit both objectives.

Early into the project, the BYU team knew that they had made the right decision. We were very comfortable with where we were headed. I was most pleased with how well the GO team heard our input & concerns then incorporated our thoughts into the direction, as well as their own due diligence in capturing the spirit of the university and its unique culture, stated Minor.

The project presented a few unique challenges for the GO creative team. First up was a very aggressive three and a half-month package delivery timeline. Just over 90 days to meet the kickoff of the 2012/2013 Cougar football season opener. The next challenge was creating a new brand that covered all of BYUs current and future sports programming needs. Finally these custom packages had to provide element integration into a Ventuz graphics engine, as well as a Chyron application.

Creative Director on the project, Mannix, summed it up this way, “Our task was to visually represent the past, present, and future of BYU Sports, and to tell their story with the right amount of confidence, swagger and enthusiasm.

The package successfully launched with BYUs football seasons opening game this past Labor Day weekend. To view a short selects reel of the BYU project, click here. Samples of GOs other work can be seen at the FXUTube.

No Small Parts: The Role of Scale Models in Theater Set Design Opens at The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures on September 18, 2012

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) July 12, 2012

No Small Parts features the works of talented local scene designers whose masterful maquettes were created for productions by Arizona Opera, the University of Arizona School of Musics Opera Theater, the University of Arizona School of Theater, Film and Television and Arizona Theater Company.

A scene designer must interpret the script under the guidance of the director and define that world as it will appear on the stage. To be tasked with representing fearsome forces of nature or conveying deeply wrought emotions with little more than light and a few well placed scenic elements are creative challenges that can best be reworked and resolved in miniature. says The Mini Time Machine Museum Executive Director, Nina Daldrup. This exhibit will allow the viewer a glimpse of the artistic problem solving that happens behind the scenes.

In addition to full-color scale models, this exhibit will also include the designers scale drawings, white models and theatrical production photographs, illustrating the progressive phases of set design and the final outcome of the process in full scale on the stage. The work of scene designers Sally Day and Clare Rowe will be featured, among others.

Artists Biographies:

Sally Day is a freelance scene designer based in Tucson. Productions include Arizona Operas 2004 production of Il Tabarro / I Pagliacci and 2012 production of Cavalleria Rusticana / I Pagliacci. Ms. Day has designed nearly a dozen presentations for the U of As School of Music Opera Department. Other companies she has designed for include: Arizona Repertory Theatre Company, Borderlands Theatre, Bloodhut Theatre, Southwestern Ballet Company Dance Festival, New Articulations Dance Company (as Lighting Designer), a.k.a. theatre and Pima Community College. Ms. Day has trained outside of Tucson as both a scenic artist and design assistant at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival in Bloomington, Illinois.

Clare Rowe has worked professionally as a scene designer and painter for over 25 years. Rowe is an Associate Professor at the University of Arizona School of Theater, Film and Television. She teaches scenic painting, theatre graphics and scene design and supervises scenic production in properties and paints for all department productions.

Philips Announces CX50 xMATRIX, the Worlds First Portable Echocardiography System to Offer Real Time 3D Transesophageal Echo (Live 3D TEE)

Andover, MA (PRWEB) July 02, 2012

At the 23rd annual scientific sessions of the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) in National Harbor, Md., Royal Philips Electronics (AEX: PHI, NYSE: PHG) announced the new CX50 xMATRIX, the worlds first portable ultrasound to offer Philips industry leading Live 3D TEE. Previously only available with Philips iE33 xMATRIX premium echocardiography solution, Live 3D TEE enables 3D visualization of the cardiac structure and function as well as new perspectives of the heart in real time, enabling better patient care.

Since its launch in 2008, Philips CX50 CompactXtreme ultrasound system has been providing the flexibility of a portable system, while delivering the imaging performance of a premium ultrasound solution. With Live 3D TEE now available on the CX50 xMATRIX, interventional teams can more easily access important clinical information and visualizations for complex interventional procedures. For clinical efficiency the compact Live 3D TEE transducer is designed to be shared between the CX50 and iE33 xMATRIX systems. Because of this, departments should be able to reduce the number of TEE transducers that must be purchased, tracked, cleaned, and stored.

The first thing the staff noticed was the incredibly small size of the CX50 system, which is very useful in our cath lab where space is at a premium, said Dr. David Liang, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine and Director, Marfan Syndrome and Aortic Disorders at Stanford University. In clinical evaluations the Live 3D TEE image quality is excellent and, with the new user interface, 3D imaging is really intuitive. In imaging TAVR procedures with the CX50, I am able to easily switch back and forth between 2D and 3D during the critical time when we are positioning the valve.

The CX50 xMATRIX is a uniquely powerful all-in-one imaging solution for structural heart disease (SHD) repairs in cath labs and hybrid cardiac operating rooms, offering Live 3D TEE plus an architecture designed to support future capabilities including advanced fluoro integration (EchoNavigator, 510(k) pending) with Philips Allura systems.

Along with the new CX50 xMATRIX, Philips announced the Vision 2013 upgrade for existing CX50 cardiology customers. Vision 2013 includes:

Bury+Partners Named Top Engineering Firm for 9th time

Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 18, 2012

Bury+Partners is proud to announce that collectively, for the 9th time they have been named as one of the top 500 engineering firms by Engineering News-Record (ENR). The list is based on design revenue generated by the firms and covers both public and privately-held companies. In the last two years, Bury+Partners has increased their revenue by nearly 20% and moved up the Top 500 list by 78 spaces.

Bury+Partners is very excited to be named among the best in the industry, said Executive Vice President Jim Knight. Our company mission has been and will always be to provide the highest possible level of personal service, combined with exceptional quality product and value. It is these principles and others that have allowed us to grow throughout difficult but promising times, while maintaining a long term perspective for our firm.

Foreign manufacturers believe that now is a good time to build in the U.S. and the signs of the recessions rebound can be seen in the ENRs Top 500 Design Firm List.

Difficult economic times come and go, said President Paul J. Bury III. The need for our consulting design services remained strong during the last downturn thanks to our diversification in the public and private markets. We have remained focused on attracting and retaining the best talent in the business. Adherence to these two principles has allowed us to come out of the recession stronger than most firms.

The Top 500, taken as a group, had overall design revenue of $ 85.06 billion in 2011, up 6.6%, from $ 79.82 billion in 2010. This marks the first time in three years the Top 500 experienced revenue growth for the year.

Anytime there is a downturn in the economy, responsible companies find themselves taking a hard look at what adjustments in operations need to be made to weather the storm, Bury said.

During the economic slump, Bury+Partners took the opportunity to streamline processes from client service all the way down to ordering office supplies. The benefits have been many including more refined processes and stronger attention to client service. Bury+Partners will continue to develop ways to remain one of the top engineering firms in the country.
