HealthCompare Wants Health Insurance To Be Educated And Releases Infographics To Help

(PRWEB) June 12, 2012

HealthCompare, a nationally recognized health insurance comparison site, is releasing new tools in their attempt to help Americans who are in search of health insurance. HealthCompare, who consistently displays concern for consumers, asks visitors that come to their site to ask themselves a series of questions before attempting to find health insurance coverage. These questions are designed to help shoppers decipher what type of coverage is best for them in terms of cost and type of policy.

The questions that HealthCompare encourages consumers to ask themselves are:

What are the consumers current health care needs? Do they currently require medication? Does the consumer have a pre-existing condition? Or are they seeking to start a family in the near future?

Does the financial state of the shopper allow for a lower deductible, thusly giving them a higher monthly premium? Or would having a high deductible (and therefore lower monthly premium) be more beneficial?

Is the consumers physician a factor? If they prefer to continue seeing their doctor of choice, HealthCompare helps them decide what policies allow that.

Are there any other health insurance options for the shopper, such as spouse or parent plan?

Once consumers get their quotes, HealthCompare then helps them narrow their decisions by prompting them to ask further questions, like:

How much will the policies being compared cost them from their pocket when considering deductibles, co-insurance, and co-pays?

What will the policies being compared offer in terms of maximum out-of-pocket expense?

Will the consumers office visits be covered?

Do any of the policies up for comparison offer maternity?

Is prescription drug coverage an option?

How much will the consumer pay for emergency services and ambulances?

Will the current primary physician and local hospitals be accepted under any of the policies being considered?

HealthCompare knows how difficult health insurance can be and wants to help consumers make their decisions with the release of these infographics.

Infographics are unique graphics that are growing in popularity across the web are known for utilizing images and colors to help make complex data from scientific reports, demographics, and studies to make them more easily understood by the casual reader. Reports such as the ones used in scientific studies often use jargon and unnecessary language that makes deciphering results difficult for those without the background for these terms. Infographics compress and compile numbers and meanings into aesthetically pleasing arrangements that illustrate rather than tell. They can also functionally layout arguments for debates, complex concepts or any other topic that could otherwise be considered difficult to understand.

These new graphics explain hardships that can effect consumers when it comes to medical coverage. HealthCompare is nationally recognized for caring about patient knowledge and choice. They want consumers to understand as much as possible when it comes to making decisions regarding coverage that suits their needs.

The infographics released in this series are:

How Not To Get An Online Health Insurance Quote – Designed to educate consumers on the right way to get a health insurance quote that is effective

Instant Health Insurance Quotes Made Simple – Designed to explain how to get quotes the consumers can use

Why Instant Health Insurance Isnt A Good Idea – Designed to educate consumers on the dangers of settling for instant health insurance

The Most Effective Individual Health Quote Does This – Designed to illustrate the most effective ways consumers can get an individual quote

COBRA: Not The Only Option For The Unemployed – Designed to show shoppers how they can get health insurance if they are unemployed

Other infographics can be found here.

Health insurance costs are much more involved than mere premiums and buyers must carefully consider all out of pocket expenses to understand what their policies will ultimately cost them.

About Health Compare: HealthCompare was launched in 2009 to work with brokers and carriers to help individuals and families easily research, compare, buy, and enroll in the right health insurance plan at the right price. Based in Orange, Calif., it delivers accurate, customized, health insurance quotes for the country’s diverse population.

Through a unique partnership with its sister company, CONEXIS, HealthCompare has the ability to quickly reach thousands of COBRA-qualifying consumers and provide them with COBRA alternatives at the moment they become eligible for COBRA benefits. This provides these consumers with an opportunity to enroll in individual or family plans and potentially save hundreds to thousands of dollars on COBRA premiums and, at the same time, rewards referring brokers with referral fee income for the life of each policy.

FX worked with KJRH to combine new components with scenic updates of existing ones, including colorful backlit elements, modern finishes, and a high-tech video wall.

The redesigned weather center allows three meteorologists to face outward and converse on camera during Tulsa’s severe weather. The backlit backdrop features frames of frosted Plexiglas to enhance the illusion of depth in HD. The anchor desk is angled asymmetrically into a studio corner, creating deeper camera angles and a relationship shot to Weather. A rolling cart with a 2×2 stack of Ultrathin Bezel LCD tiles provides an alternate anchor backdrop and a focal point for reporter stand-ups. The design for the NBC affiliate targeted its 2554 demographic and has been well received by younger viewers who laud its fresh design approach. For photos and video visit http://fxgroup.tv/portfolio/kjrh-tv/

Space Exploration and Higher Education Will Both Benefit from New Partnership with NASA, Triad Semiconductor, Mentor Graphics and HBCU Communities

Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) June 15, 2012

An Agency-wide effort, the NASA Science and Technology Institute for Minority Institutions, or NSTI-MI, is a three-year competitive program designed to enhance the science, technology, engineering and math capabilities of HBCU students. The unique nature of Goddard’s arrangement is that it also involves a partnership with two private commercial companies.

Goddard, Alabama A&M University, Tuskegee University, along with Mentor Graphics in Wilsonville, Ore and Triad Semiconductor of Winston-Salem, N.C., have entered into a collaboration that will have university professors knowledgeable in microelectronics and computer science working with their students to build a library of electronic designs that can be rapidly and affordably built and used to design electronics for future spacecraft and instrument control.

“One of the challenges in undergraduate education is to have relevant and real design and build projects for students, said Lucy McFadden, Chief for Higher Education at Goddard. With efforts such as this, we have a ready structure to motivate students and give them a real learning environment with an exciting outcome.

Microelectronics design for space missions is demanding. Being able to optimize the size, weight and power of electronics is a mission critical activity for all projects. At the same time, outer space presents a harsh radiation environment requiring electronics to be able to operate under extreme conditions.

“Rapid development of electronics that meet size, weight and power requirements along with radiation-hardening will be critical to NASA’s future exploration efforts” said Lavida Cooper of the Applied Engineering and Technology Directorate at Goddard.

The researchers will utilize a design environment provided by Triad known as ViaDesigner. ViaDesigner is a new electronic design automation tool that enables system-level engineers, who have no previous integrated circuit design experience, to create their own application-specific integrated circuits. ViaDesigner is based on the Mentor Graphics SystemVision

Colortrac, the Leading Innovator in the Field of Wide Format Scanning Technology, Announce the Launch of Their New High Speed SmartLF SC 42 Large Format Production Scanner

(PRWEB) June 17, 2012

The SmartLF SC 42 wide format scanner has been designed with many new and productive innovations to meet the needs of high volume scanning users in AEC, CAD, GIS and Copyshop or Service Bureaus.

Commenting on the new scanning technology, Peter Brown Colortrac Executive Director said The new SingleSensor digital imaging technology for the SmartLF SC 42 wide format scanners is an important new Colortrac invention. The SingleSensor is a single full width 42 inch array of Contact Imaging Sensors (CIS) that are housed in a robust structure and pre-aligned, giving higher optical quality and improved match between sensors. The full width SingleSensor has 50,400 pixels giving it an optical resolution of 1200dpi and a maximum scanning resolution of 9600dpi. It also uses a bi-directional white LED lighting system that optimises the illumination of the scan object whilst giving an Instant-on response. This lowers power consumption as the lights are only on whilst scanning and eliminates the effects of shaded areas caused by creases or folds in the original documents.

The SmartLF SC 42 is capable of scanning monochrome documents at 13 inches/sec and color at 6 inches/sec. To improve the document feeding capabilities at these increased scanning speeds, it incorporates a new single roller document feed mechanism that holds the document firmly up against the SingleSensor lens. This allows it to handle a variety of document types including creased, fragile or even thin media such as newspaper.

The SmartLF SC 42 is also the first large format scanner to utilise the new SuperSpeed USB 3.0 serial PC interface that provides for data transfer at up to 5Gb/sec this is approximately 10 times the data transfer speed of the current USB2 interface. This reduces the time taken to transfer the image data from the scanner to the host PC – this has always been a restriction on productivity. Tests have indicated a realistic throughput of 273 Arch-E (36 x 48) sized color pages per hour at 200dpi resolution or 171 documents at 400dpi. By using the new SmartWorks EZ Touch software provided with the scanner, easy quality adjustment of the scanned image can be made, making the SmartLF SC 42 large format scanner ideal for those large archival jobs.

Summarizing the capabilities of the new wide format scanner, Peter Brown commented The color space of SingleSensor can be set to sRGB or RAW RGB depending on application. The excellent color accuracy of this scanner and the higher scanning and data transfer speeds using the SuperSpeed USB3 interface contribute to making the SmartLF SC 42 the most productive large format scanner available. It also reinforces Colortracs position as the leading innovator in the field of wide format scanning technology.

From Adolescence to Sophistication in Ann Arbor: A Whole House Remodel

Ann Arbor, MI (PRWEB) May 10, 2012

“From adolescence to sophistication” was the goal expressed by Architectural Resources Ann Arbor client at the beginning of a master-planned, multi-phased whole house remodeling and addition project. Originally designed many years ago by the self-proclaimed ‘recovering architect’ homeowner, the home was in need of updating and attention. The project included a completely remodeled first floor, including a new bedroom wing and ‘Tree House’ sanctuary overlooking a beautiful setting with ponds and natural landscaping. For additional information on the project, visit http://www.arcrestour.com.

This home is the fourth of 10 stellar projects featured on this year’s NARI Tour of Remodeled Homes, an annual event showcasing the best in residential remodeling design and construction. For additional information and to download the tour brochure and annual NARI membership directory, visit http://www.narisemich.org.

Project Background

The homes original 1980s design was steeped in “post modern” architectural folly. In the clients own words, the home needed to grow and mature from adolescence to sophistication to match the homeowners style and attitude. A careful, sensitive design approach and the art of understatement and restraint were utilized to make subtle but significant changes to the existing home, including two modest additions carefully scaled to complement the main home.

To the north a new main floor and fully accessible Master Suite Pavilion wing with a Home Office “Link” connector was added. The Master Suite Pavilion was designed with “long life-loose fit” strategies in mind, recognizing that the homeowners needs will change over time.

The main house family gathering space received an authentic Rumford-style, full masonry fireplace as a stunning focal point, along with new ridge beam and skylights to open up the space visually. The new functional and elegant floating slab stairway to the west of the family gathering space was exquisitely crafted from sustainably harvested Brazilian Cherry.

Although the kitchen maintained its essential layout, it was completely redesigned in a subtle yet effective manner. Major changes included a custom cast concrete topped island and a redesign of the “post modern” inspired window array to open the views of the meadow and ponds to the south. The new elevated “Tree House” sanctuary to the south of the home was an exciting introduction, as it allowed for elevated viewing and a connection to nature with the meadow, gardens and ponds below.
